Half of my fear is that they'll just end up non-characters anyway. Which is probably likely, but hey, Bigass Dev, right?

Isn't this the first legit seven-combiner, in theory? I mean, there's obviously guys who have combined 'more' robots before (Vehicle Voltron springs to mind, but so do those multiple-vehicle Diaclone guys) but ever specifically seven? And what's the supposed layout, here? Two per leg maybe, one per arm, one for the body? Though that'd be pretty lopsided...Perhaps it's one per arm/leg and three on the body? Who knows.

That's cheating, though, that's more of a five-combiner with two other bits stacked on. At best, it's a six-combiner riding on a Brachiosaurus.

Who says they even specifically turn into individula limbs? Maybe they just become irregular, specific big-robot components and mesh together *gracefully*, a la the Beast Era Combiners.

The reason the BW combiners worked was because they were only three pieces. And even then, Ironhide just kinda became the whole robot while Prowl and Silverbolt huddled into a sexball to be the torso. Tripredacus looks better, but I lack him, so.

Heh heh, sexball. Silverbolt is unecessary for the Magnaboss combination, and that's a little sad. Still want Magnaboss repainted as Predaking.
Tripredacus is indeed better, thanks to Ramhorn forming the arms, Cicadacon forming the torso, and Sea Clamp forming the legs and back. Great figure, really is. Sea Clamp's pretty naff on his own, tho'.

Knowing the movie's aesthetic, I doubt there'll be many recognisable vehicle parts in the mix. Also, he'll not be green and purple, it's going to be a real fruit salad combo. I do expect a G1-themed set of repaints, mind you. Given seven figures, I'm really expecting a lot from this - stability, articulation, integrated bloody merge parts.. By the sounds of it, it'll be the gem of the line.

Or the trainwreck. There's 'so much' that could go wrong with it. Much like the first movie in general, I am cautiously optimistic.

Plus, the first line didn't exactly have a really good Wow factor. Most of the toys had at least one area they could really have used improvement on--Dropkick's arms, Barricade's head, Jazz's arms...

I really liked Dropkick. This upcoming merge team had damned well better deliver on everything O86 is talking about. I will be very annoyed otherwise.

All told, I generally agree with O6 in that most movie toys had serious flaws. But, all the same, I really liked Ratchet and Prime. And, retro-BB is an under-appreciated gem.

Ratchet was alright, if a little boring and too boxy for a movie TF (clearly one of the earliest designs) and Prime's only true flaw is his lack of wrists.

I liked a lot of the movie figures, they had a lot of detail and were no more flawed than any line really. Dropkick is a pretty awesome design, so is Longarm. Barricade is a little off but is pretty fun.
