For the actual PvP MP matches I like Conquest the best as it's the most team and strategy based. And with a headset you can get some good teamwork going and it's really a lot of fun. Escalation takes that to the nth degree and I've been able to get through a lot of waves by coordinating with other good players. But even without a headset, you can still get some good team mates, especially if they react to what the people with mics are saying.

Had a real good round in Escalation tonight. Got to Wave 17. The people I was playing with seemed like seasoned pros. I kind of followed their lead and picked up some good strategies. I can't even remember how many rounds I went before I finally got knocked down.
*edit*
Equipped my Ironhide wannabe with a Magma Flare launcher, and suddenly the kills are racking up. That thing is nice and evil
*edIt*
And I think I'm officially burnt out on this game. For now anyway. Must find something else to play.
*edit*
Been playing Blade Kitten. Beat it. Fun game, but the story is not there.
After that, bought the full game of Bionic Commando ReArmed and have been working on that. Love this little game!! I never had it on the NES, or even played it before, but I absolutely love the remake. It's everything a remake should be.
Got Castlevania Lords of Darkness and Metal Gear 4 for my b-day. I'll get to them soon enough.
And just last night I got called out for a 1 on 1 duel in War For Cybertron. Some little kid again, and apparently he was "testing me" to see if I was good enough to join his clan. I told him I wasn't interested in joining any clans, and was just having fun blowing him up. He got all mad, and was like, "I can tell you're holding back! I want you to really *TRY!!* Try and do your best!!"
I just laughed and said, "Sorry, kid. What you see is what you get," and he was like, "Are you
kidding me?!" I scored a few more kills on him, and he says, "You know I'm not going all out, right? This isn't even a fraction of what I can do."
"If you say so."
But then I get the drop on him and he's all screaming and cussing and going, "WTF?!?! Where are you?! Where'd you go?? Where'd that come from?!!? Oh shit, there's only 1 minute left and Mako's ahead!! Come back here and fight like a man!!!"
Nope!! You snooze, you lose!!! I ran and hid from him for the last 25 seconds and he was cussing me out over the mic!! Ah, it was great fun.

Told you!
Well, pure awesome is subjective. It gets a little stupidly difficult in some parts, and I'll fully admit the game is flawed. There's also some parts that scream "obvious cut content." (There was clearly supposed to be a boss fight with the chick at that area with the statues of all the dudes.) But that was GRIN's MO--flawed games that could've been objectively better all-around, but when they were good, they were really good.

Oh! I meant Bionic Commando ReArmed. Haven't played the console one yet.

Ah, shit, missed the post before that. Yes, Rearmed is great! The sequel, Rearmed 2, is slightly less great, I haven't beat it yet. The remake/sequel (it's both?) disc game is, as I said, is flawed but still awesome, and at this point goes for less than $10.
Also, man, do I hate this whole super-competitive "clan" mentality online multiplayer has. Fuck that shit.

What is that about? I've heard of online MP clans but never encountered them. I've only played online with individuals and met some really good gamers and cool people that way.

Near as I can tell, it probably started in the mid-90s on online PC games. Basically a "clan" is an organized team. For the better part of the 2000s, my brother was involved in a "clan" for SOCOM: Navy Seals (and its sequels) on the PS2. Apparently there was an entire organized site where they had to log which "clan" won and there were regular "clan battles" between different "clans" to determine which group of losers with no lives could have the least lives by playing the game the most. (I'm pretty sure my brother was near the top, because he literally did nothing but play the fucking game. The reason I missed the entirety of the PS2 and most of its exclusive games was because he was always using it.)
It never seemed like it would be any fun at all to me because there was BS organized hierarchy (at least from what I saw) and because it was regularly scheduled and ranked and shit. I don't like having my life revolve around the schedule of a video game; I'd rather just play whenever I want to. (Plus, I'm just not super good at games, especially against other people, so the idea of scheduling a time specifically to get my ass kicked in a game is...not my idea of fun.)
(Actually, I lie, I realize I'm actually pretty damn decent at games, but usually during multiplayer I zone the fuck out and suck ass.)

Yeah, I like gaming with friends and all, but I'm not about to join up with a clan. That's just stupid. And I'm not about to schedule my life around a videogame.
Man, the one thing I really hated about the console Bionic Commando was the whole deal with them turning his wife into his bionic arm. I don't even know how that's supposed to work or why, but it's the damn stupidest thing I've ever heard. So imagine my face when I'm playing ReArmed and I'm in one of the FSA camps just milling about, talking with other soldiers, and they start talking about his wife, and how she's gone missing!! "Keep looking, man. You'll find her one day."
Aw, hell nah!!! Not in this game!! Not you guys too!! Keep that bullshit out of ReArmed and save it for the console shit! Thankfully that's as much as they ever say on the matter, so I can pretend like she left him for some other reason.
Man, out of all the stupid plot-twists I've ever come across, having Rad Spencer's wife get abducted and turned into his bionic arm has got to be one of the all time most idiotic ones I've heard. It's insultingly stupid. So what about his whole bionic crew from ReArmed 2? Did one of them have their boyfriend turned into bionic legs? A dog got turned into a bionic nose? It's just so stupid. It's so stupid, that it pisses me off to the point of not wanting to play it at all. Maybe I could if I just skipped all the cut-scenes.
Next we'll find out that SpiderMan really built his web shooters 2.0 from Gwen Stacey's corpse.
Iron Man's new suit of armor will be built from Pepper Potts.
Batman keeps turning his romantic interests into new bat-gadgets. Vicki Vale? Yeah, she's his new utility belt. Chase Meridian? New set of rims on the Batmobile.

Yeah, that part's dumb. In fact, most of the story in the game is dumb. But the gameplay is fun! And it's only $8 or less!
I like games with dumb story and terrible voice acting. I mean, Spencer is voiced by Mike Patton! That's hilariously cool.
And yeah, Rearmed was developed by the same guys--basically as a way to promote the other game. I dunno how much Rearmed 2 deals with that (since it was developed mostly by Fatshark; former GRIN employees, and the sequel game was considered a failure) since I've barely gotten into it.
