Animated Review Thread

Some cartoon with big chins and a little girl that got beloved by fans and taken off TV to make way for a different show on another network. Yeah, that's fair.

I can accept some scale deviance, especially if there is a complimentary character in a similar scale. (For example, if there was a related toy or two that were scaled to Lugnut, it would not be so bad.) But, unless you want a toy to stand alone on a shelf, (and with Lugnut, the whole point of the character is devotion to a faction), you need some scaling.

That's what I'm saying, at least about Lugnut. I havn't bought leader Bulkhead, and quite seriously if I do it will only be to have him in scale to my other Autobots, and most likely only after I can find him on clearance somewhere.

Now if they announced a leader class Lugnut tonite, I might be inclined to pick up a Bulkhead sooner.

Mini Review of Animated Soundwave:
This guy has a lot of fun play value. He's an interesting update of the soundwave character, but from what I understand he fails to fill the shoes of his G1 namesake in terms of his importance in the show. I don't think any of the ersatz Soundwaves we've gotten have been equal to the original in that regard. Still, the big dubbed-out SUV is a decent update for him. Lazerbeak is a fun accessory but doesn't work well as a bird. Seeing as how he didn't appear in-show, I'm guessing he was a last minute add-on. He's fun for pose value. Soundwave has that almost-but-not-quite level of wanted posability that seems consistent in animated toys, but his elbow sockets are a little too weak to hold a lot of poses. There's a bit of messy gold paint on his chest window and some light green paint mess on some of his wheels. QC issues aside, I love this deco. I can't help but wonder what it'll look like as Blaster  In conclusion, I have to say Soundwave is the best balanced of the three animated toys I own in terms of design, transformation, fiddle and display value, etc. He's a complete package. (for the curious, he's up against Snarl and Lockdown. I need to find a walmart with a better selection) I recommend him for fans of the Animated line, big burly robots, people who like guitars, and Soundwave acolytes.

Ooh, I fit those criteria!

Wait, I already own him.. Heh. Could handle a Blaster retool, that'd be decently spiffy. Soundwave, Lockdown, and Oil Slick are totally a band.

A Blaster (With Blockrock?) retool would be great, if only to have someone to pose *with* Soundwave in kickass guitar duels.

What the hell does Lockdown play in the band? Keyboard or drums is kind of out of the question, unless he's pulling a Def Leppard on those drums.

Oil Slick seems more like the skeezy drummer type. Lockdown could be a front man, he's got impressive stature and he could easily hold a mic in that hook. However, I have the feeling if he was in a band he'd just have a mic or instrument that plugs onto his arm. Who's gonna play bass?

The way Starscream's hands are molded, he could always strum a guitar, or throw down some keyboard.

Lugnut. Big and quiet. Only six(?) fingers.

Hey, they need a flyer.

Oilslick: Why is his chain weapon so different than the one pictured on the packaging and in the instructions??? The boxart shows a long, fine metal chain and the instructions show that the sides of the barrel disconnect from the end caps. The toy has a plastic chain barely four inches long, not nearly as fun for plastic toy violence. I'm disappointed. (other than that he's pretty awesome)
