Hey, I have been saying that sometimes the reboot itself is the reason why things change, and Crisis of Infinite Earths was a big one at that.

As for Earth 2... how else would you explain a new universe coming out of no where right after a universe altering event? The only logical explanation there is that events from "Flashpoint" somehow created that universe.

Okay, so "Earth 2" is set in a new universe, meaning that the old (post-"52") Earth 2 is still out there somewhere? And, how does that make sense? No iteration of Earth 2 had anything to do with "Flashpoint". At the end of "Flashpoint", Earths 0 (DC main), 13 (Vertigo) and 50 (Wildstorm) were merged. Earth 2 did not factor in at all.

There is *no* in-story reason for why Earth 2 has changed. And, that is fine because I (and most other readers) understand that "Flashpoint" was really a reboot, and that not all of the changes need to be reconciled with it. Knowing, understanding and accepting the real reason for the changes is enough.

I don't know why that's so hard for some of you guys to understand. Nothing changes the fact this is still the same continuity, regardless that they have changed some things about it.

Mayb because we are not setting a higher priority for the in-fiction logic?

In the case of "Year One", the thing that explained the changes was actually the first instance of many of those changes and....oh god, this conversatin if fucking retarded.


Blackhawks:
When the new 52 thing first happened, there were a few books that initially tempted me. With "Blackhawks", I decided that I wanted to think about it before adding another book to my pull-file (especially when I was trying to cut back on comics that year), despite being a fan of Costa. When "Blackhawks" was cancelled in the first round, waiting for the compilation became an even better option. The compilation released last week includes the entire 8 issue series by Costa, though not the zero story from the "DC Universe Presents" one shot last September. (In fact, reading Costa's run on "Blackhawks" gives me the impression that the zero story was not even part of the original plan for this series.)

The best way to describe this book is "G.I. Joe in a setting with superheroes". Following the invasion that kicked off the current DCU, the Blackhawks were formed to counter and contain new and largely unknown threats to humanity, particularly technology. Questions about the morality of technology, (and if technology can be assigned moral value), figure prominently in to the story. While the main threat in the story is represented by technology personified, the good guys also make liberal use of alien technology and at one point end up relying on the "bad" technology to win the day. (On the other hand, that is balanced by the fact that main threat in the story could not exist without technology.)

So you're saying 3 universes could merge together as a result of "Flashpoint" but that there is no in-story reason for a totally different Earth 2 universe to now exist? Let me ask you this... Why aren't characters like Allen Scott, Jay Garrick, Kendra Saunders and Al Pratt a part of the main DC universe post-"Flashpoint" anymore? Why is it that Powergirl and Huntress are now from Earth 2, that got transported to the main DCU? How is it that all of these characters who were originally Earth 2 characters are now from a separate universe once again?

Unless of course, if a couple universes could be merged together as a result of "Flashpoint", then they could be separated as well. That would explain why these characters and their history isn't a part of the main DCU anymore and now exist in their own and totally new universe. Knowing the so-called "real" reason for the changes is good and fine, but that only explains stuff behind the scenes. It doesn't explain how or why the changes were made in-context of the story. And if you've got an ongoing storyline such as this, you can't just make changes with out something in-context to explain how those changes were made in the first place.

You're not even considering any in-fiction logic from some of the arguments you've made here. To the point you're even intentionally ignoring it.

Exactly, it's the first time they show the changes after CoIE, establishing what was changed as a result of the multiverse being merged into one universe. It's not that hard to figure out.

The ending to The Amazing Spider-Man #700 has leaked online, a couple weeks ahead of when it was supposed to be released. Reactions from fans to the spoilers has been... Well a lot of them are pissed, just like with 'One More Day'.

Call me when it sticks for more than six issues.

As bad as One More Day was for Peter's character, they have at least been consistent with sticking to it.

Yeah, took me a couple minutes to find it, and it seems that it's getting taken down rather quickly whenever someone posts it, now that they know of the leak.

So I guess Doctor Octopus and Peter Parker switched brains, and this issue has Peter-in-Ock's-body having a bunch of supervillains help him try to take down Ock-in-Peter's-body-as-Spider-Man so he can get switched back. But it doesn't work because Spider-Ock-Man is just TOO POWERFUL and beats them all up and beats Ock-Peter within an inch of his life. So Ock-Peter apparently somehow transfers his memories over to Otto-Spider-Octo-Man, and goes "Think of Uncle Ben, dude! Do the right thing!" and Octo-Spiderpus is all "Yeah, I will, I'll be a better super-hero as Spider-Man than you ever were! I will be the SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN!" and Doctor-Peterpus is like "lol, okay. HRRK-Bleaaah" and dies.

Doctor Octopus is going to be the new Spider-Man for the relaunch. Also he's apparently going to be trying to get into a relationship with Mary-Jane. I'm likely buying this issue on Wednesday just to watch this trainwreck unfold.

There isn't going to be an issue 706... The Amazing Spider-Man's last issue is #700. After that they are launching "The Superior Spider-Man" in its place.
