Ah. . . no. Never played those ones. OoE is the only DS Castlevania I've played. I thought I'd heard somewhere in a Gametrailers tribute or something that Bloodlines was taken out of the timeline. Guess not. Anyway... and yeah! word balloons and portraits are just fine! Those are the kind of cut-scenes I like in a Castlevania game. Bionic Commando: Rearmed is like the definitive, absolute most awesome way to do a remake and I want to play it so badly. I think I'd even flip out just being able to watch it. Man that game is pretty to look at!

If the team at Konami paid the same kind of care and attention to a Castlevania remake that the guys at Capcom did to BC, then I'd be all for it.

Get a 360, man. The older models are dirt cheap these days and can save to USB drives. Shit so cash.
I'm getting Rearmed 2 as soon as I have local internet again at home. So disappointed by GRIN's death, too, those guys were a cool studio. They genuinely tried, and yeah, the games they made were sometimes flawed--but that's okay. I still loved Bionic Commando (the sequel) for what it was.

So, tried out Shadow of the Colossus. Man, frustrating. Just getting the damn horse to go anywhere is a chore, and then actually climbing the monster and killing it? Jesus.
After about my twelfth time trying to get up the first critter, and the goofy-lookin' elf guy falling off because I couldn't figure out the controls for shit, I actually was frustrated enough to about toss it out the window, before cooler heads prevailed.
I dunno, just haven't found a game as good as God of War yet, and this sucker ain't it.

Bit surprised you tried Shadow of the Colossus before Devil May Cry, considering only one of those two is actually like God of War...
But hey, maybe you've already found your favourite game ever and need to stop looking? =p

Actually, I gave DMC a spin or two a few weeks back. Not bad at all, really. I just got hung up at about the point where the giant bird with six beaks shows up, and moved on to some other things. I'll get back around to it eventually.
As for Shadow, I dunno, maybe I shouldn't have given it a try after a long day spent doing a road trip. I was cranky. I'll give it another shot tomorrow, I think.
And it's not that I'm looking for something "like" GoW as such, just something that's as entertaining. That said, the temptation remains to get the PS3 just to get GoW3, and I've even been tempted to get the damn handheld thing to check out Ghosts or Sparta and Chains of Olympus. They got their hooks in me but good with that game.

You had trouble with the first one? Did you at least finally kill it? If not, there's a spot on it's left leg to stab that will allow you to climb the rest of it. Also, R2 is to grab onto the colossus and various ledges, x is to stab and the left stick allows you to move. But yeah, that horse downright pisses me off. Whoever programmed this game has never ridden a horse in his/her life.

God of War is fun, but after part 2 I had had enough of Kratos.

Um. No, I didn't kill it. Sumbitch kept throwing me off and stomping on me. I did figure out the weak spot on his leg, and then got up to his head and stabbed him there a few times, but even when I'd have him most of the way dead, my goofy-lookin' elf dude would get thrown off. I'd be trying to make him hang on, and jackass would let go of the critter's fur and stand up.
Worth pointing out, though, that I'm about the least determined game-player in the world. My girlfriend tried getting me to play that Super Mario Galaxy thing, and I fell off of the first planet and thought "Eh, don't care for this." No idea how I managed to stick with GoW long enough to get hooked.

Yeah, from what I've heard you really just kind of have to slog through some of SotC's mechanics for the story.
The entire game is basically just fighting the Colossi, so it's not really a big deal if you can't beat one.

Yeah, I would say that if you hate it after the first one, you'll probably hate the rest of it. There are two flying ones, one fish, a sandworm, and a Crab that's damn near impossible to even climb onto. And the last one is a building. There's also two dog like ones that I hate fighting.
