Have you? If not, you have even less basis arguing that he didn't imply that. Because...

... this. Implies absolutely everything I said and I stand by it. Loeb may be a terrible writer, but Millar implying so publicly is just wrong. Millar is a fellow Marvel writer, not some random fan posting it on their bloggity blogs. There's two problems here: Loeb is a terrible writer and Millar is a douchebag for saying so.

Now I'm going to see if I can find a link to the actual interview somewhere so we can all get a better understanding of what Millar actually said verbatim and it's context.

And after roughly an hour and a half digging through google's seediest trenches... I find nothing. Plenty of other interviews with Millar on other stuff, but apparently no one, anywhere, has ever bothered to put this interview on the internet. Fine, I'm going to the comic shop after work to see if they have the latest Spotlight just so I can read this thing for myself. What happened to the days when it was guaranteed that as soon as something came out some nerd somewhere would post every single detail of it? The realm of geekdom is slacking indeed.

There might be scans in unscrupulus locales. It usually takes a week for people to do that, though--that whole integrity thing tends to get in the way of that.

Oh of course, I forgot about that. Leave it to the lawyers to screw things up with their "legalities" and "copyrights". I was really looking for someone to have posted an exact transcript of the interview, not necessarily scans, but of course, that could be taken as some sort of infringement unto itself.

I said I hadn't read it. However...

...that Is what Dom (where did he go anyway?) said in summing up the interview, not Millar's own words. As such, it doesn't really imply anything for/against Millar. We still have no idea how Millar phrased it exactly, and I believe he'd have more tact than to just say "the recent stories are bad".

Yeah, where did he go? And I'm also noticing that he started the last thing you and I argued about with Starscream and the Matrix and then conveniently left that thread. I'm wondering if he doesn't just enjoy stirring the pot a little.

Yeah, I hate taking things on third party without hearing/reading it myself directly which is why I'm going to try to track down the issue of Marvel Spotlight with the interview in it. When I do, I'll let you know exactly, verbatim what he said. I mean, for all we know we could have just argued for two pages just over Dom's interpretation of what he said and he could have actually said and meant something completely different. I would also like to believe that he would have more tact than to even comment on the quality of another Marvel writer's work. Either way, I'll keep ya posted.

Speaking of Starscream, the new issue of AHM should be out today.

Well I went to my comicnasium today, but they didn't have Marvel Spotlight, so that will have to wait. I did pick up AHM 14 and Buffy and Tales of the Fallen: Bumblebee. Tales of the Fallen was eh eh. I predict that AHM will soon be retitled AHG (All Hail Galvatron).

Hillbillies....banjoes....said I was pretty. I...tried...but....not strong enough.........

Actually, I have been pretty distracted lately. I am off from work, and trying to find something else during this break. And, I have been working hard at losing some weight. (I am in the low 150s, for the first time in over a year. The last time I was this low was when I was fostering Daisy and Lady, which involved a whole lot of not eating or sleeping.)

And public infighting within the organization isn't going to inspire you to start reading them now, is it? Which really proves my point, at the very least from a marketing/publicity standpoint.
That seems to be Marvel's thing though. Remember the much publicized kerfuffle (such a fun word to say) between Quesada and MJS? Some people are likely drawn to the drama off the page as much as the drama on the page.

I retain my position that I read *nothing* the big two come out with, and if they keep going at this rate, I probably never will.
There is some good stuff being published by them. Read Waid's "The Return of Barry Allen", (originally published in '94 I think), or something like "All Star Superman". You would likely enjoy "Red Son" as well. Marvel's recent "Captain Marvel" series was better than it had any right to be.

I really think Millar's opinions are the least of Loeb's concerns these days. The quality of his work has been declining for a while now. I mean, I have yet to see any positive reviews for Ultimates 3 or Ultimatum. I've seen plenty of criticism on plenty other titles he has worked on for both Marvel and DC as well. Not to mention he was asked to leave (read: fired) from "Heroes" a couple seasons ago. So really, why should Loeb care if one more person doesn't like his recent work?
You forgot "Superman/Batman". :)

And, Millar's comments were a bit on the nasty side, as I read them. Not as bad as Shock seems to think they are, but nastier than you are seeing them. (I will try to post exact quotes later.)

We are getting older. Sorry.

Again, I have been busy of late, sorry.

'94 is Old Stuff, man, I'm talking about the current trash that usually comes out. Anyone seen this absolutely cruddy-looking Marvel Noir line? It just looks laughably bad.

To be fair, I've been intending to pick up ASS (heheheheh) for a while now, just need to find a copy of the first trade. It's on the list, right after Batman: The Long Halloween. Which I'm only interested in partially because it's frigging 'huge' for being a $20 book.

Which Jetfire is this? Because if it's Classics Jetfire, I kind of did, like, an eight thousand page dissertation on the figure when I got mine in August '07.

Glad you enjoyed your visit to Kansas, Dom. Y'all come back anytime, hear?

"The Long Halloween" isn't that great, really. I tried reading it, but other than having beautiful Tim Sale artwork, it's kinda worthless.

And as for Marvel's "Noir" line, I've ignored most of 'em except for "X-Men Noir" because FVL, that's why. It combines a few different things to become total win, however. Fantastic artwork, a very James Ellroy-esque reworking of the characters, and the reworking of the concept. For my money, it's a whole lot better than most X-Men books, but then, I really hate the X-Men, usually.
