I'm beyond curious how issue #125 is gonna wrap everything up.
after I buy & read issue #125 this wednesday. My next TF comic purchase will be in may/june 2012.
I'm gonna buy the trade paper backs from now on. the stories are too awful to read each month. perhaps in one big read via a trade paper back. the stories will be a bit easier to enjoy.
I'll most lekely get the free comic book on may called 80.5 re-gneration. then trade paper backs for MTMTE & RID in june 2012.
What are some web sites that release these TF IDW Trade paper backs the quickest?
What are the best web sites to order these TF IDW Trade paper backs from? My guesses,Amazon.com,barnes & nobles? have the comic book store order these IDW TF trade paper back from that big diamond previews book. are these the best or does anyone have better sites to order these TF IDW trade paper backs from?

Honestly I'd go with Amazon. They get stuff in the day it releases and most of the time have preorders that go up as soon as the trades are announced. They also seriously discount their stuff--for example, Volume 2 of Costa's run is only $13.59. And if your order total is over $25, you can usually apply for free super-saver shipping. (This doesn't apply if you're buying the stuff used or new from another retailer through Amazon, but.)

TF, like most comics, is written to be compiled. People need to get the hell over the idea that comics are meant to be read as single issues. That has not been standard for well over 20 years.
I cannot think of a single book that has been worth my time to read in the last 10 years that did primarily single issue stories.
Dom
-actually, GW did that for a while....

You aren't reading Atomic Robo. That's why.

Thanks,i'll be ordering the IDW TF on-going 2012 trade paper backs from amazon.com.
This year I ordered the Amazon.com exclusive 25th anniverasry unicron & got free shipping because the order was over $25 dollars.
For the amazon.com TF G-1 On-going 2012 Trade paper backs. I'll be ordering the MTME & Rid at the same time. thus the order will be over $25 & i'll qualify for free shipping.

I don't think anyone was arguing this point, but okay. I agree. I kind of wonder if we're seeing a slow shift towards larger, TPB sized comics being the norm while single issues fall to the wayside (probably not). But seeing as how manga has been produced in larger volumes for decades and TPBs are becoming more and more popular as the default format, we could see a shift in that direction. It would be weird though. Instead of getting our monthly fix, we'd have to wait something like a full year between TPBs. I don't know if comic fans could handle it. It's not really any different than all the people that had to wait a year between Harry Potter novels (or whatever novels), but comic fans are conditioned to expect a monthly fix.

"Writing for the trade" has been the standard for a long time. Nothing new about it at all.
Comic fans can buy individual issues. But, they should not expect everything to be neatly wrapped up in a single issue. And, the comics will read better when compiled.

"Atomic Robo" runs multi-issue arcs.
Dom
-debating buying the compilations of Costa's run.

Just a point of reference from your friendly neighborhood weaboo here, but Manga isn't produced in trades/volumes. Each on of those volumes of manga is made up of nine or ten 'chapters' that were originally published individually in magazines that sell weekly. So Japanese comics are just as serialized (if released more frequently) as the comics we get over here. Granted, with the exception of some comedy series, *very* few manga do single issue/chapter stories, they're a blatant case of writing for the trade.

I'm sticking with the monthly series. I'd rather not wait seven months between story updates.
