Dumb fans think Furman should write G1 #81 and beyond.

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!

Oh yeah, I'll recommend the recent Puella Magi Madoka Magica. That's definitely the cutest of cutesy magical girl stuff. Yes, it is totally cute. Totally.

Seriously, just 'cause, BWprowl recommends:

Baccano! - A Tarantino-esque tale of immortal gangsters in 1930's New York, it's also got one of the absolute best dubs I've ever seen. This, along with the one below, is my go-to recommendation for folks new to anime.
Black Lagoon - Simply one of the best fucking all-around shows I've ever seen, it's a fucking bombastic love-letter to over-the-top action films and at the same fucking time a fucking brilliant study of characters and how they grow and (sometimes struggle not to) change in their fucking environment. Also, the fucking first arc of the second season is one of the most fucking hard to watch (in the best way possible) things I have ever fucking seen. Oh, and the dub also fucking rules.
Gurren Lagann - Holy shit if you like giant robots and you haven't seen this show then what the hell is wrong with you?
Cowboy Bebop - But this one always gets recommended to everyone by everyone, so I won't even go into it.
Mai-HiME - This one may skew a but 'too Japanese' for you Shockwave, but it's just such a solid series and one of my absolute favorites that I've always got to recommend it to people. It's one of those shows with a shit-ton of characters, but it juggles them with expertise that I've not seen anywhere else. It also starts out kind of light, but then you realize that that's just because it's keeping a lot of its depths well-hidden, and too late you realize that this is not a series that pulls its punches. It's psuedo-sequel, Mai-Otome is just as great.
FLCL - Because it's basically the best Anime evar, even though I can't bring myself to recommend it as someone's *first* anime. Might want to wait on watching this one. It's kind of overwhelming.
Gunbuster - Completing the trifecta of Gainax Anime I absolutely love, this one's a true classic. Thanks to probably the best use of relativity and the Rip Van Winkle effect I've ever seen in Anime (and that totally gets used all the time), this one ends up feeling truly epic in scope. It also has, hands-down, my absolute favorite ending in fiction, ever. The best part is, the sequel Gainax made twenty years later, Dai Buster, not only makes the original even better retroactively, it even makes that ending better! Watch Gunbuster and Dai Buster.

That's it, I'm tracking down Black Lagoon. Seriously. I only got through 1 minute of the video and it was the fucking funniest thing I've fucking seen in a long fucking time. Fucking sold!

Well, it's something! This conversation was not in vain!

Seriously, though, Cowboy Bebop. My girlfriend likes it, and she hates (in her own words) "any and all faggy Japanese bullshit."

The fact that she would word it in such a way is part of why I love her.

I am only passingly familiar with "Cowboy Bebop". But, how is it at all "faggy"?

I have been meaning to sit down and watch that, and might get around it...at some point...maybe. Someday.

It isn't. The girlfriend had just had some obviously bad experience with anime (Naruto, InuYasha, etc.) which turned her off the medium pretty fast. She bought me the Cowboy Bebop box set for...I think my birthday last year, or something, and I insisted she watch it with me--and after a few episodes, she managed to get hooked. Mostly because it was good and not shitty. Because Cowboy Bebop isn't shonen--it's hard to classify it as 'anything,' really, other than a really great cartoon.

I've seen all the Cow boy beebop cartoons thanks to them all airing on cartoon network. I'm gonna have to agree & say it was a awesome series. great fleshed out personas, decent written stories. great vide/attidue on on the series. sexy drawn females. beyond awesome final episode where spike dies.

I got heavily into InuYasha way back in 2006 when the series was airing on cartoon network. after a while the series made no sense. I didn't like that inuyasha would get super powerful in a few episodes, then he's get super weak again. he's defend his own decently against his brother & that main villian Naruko, then episodes later he wouldn't even be stronger enough to fight either of them. I thought the main girl Kagome from the future was super hot & the other girl Sango who rode that huge cat was also super hot. I didn't like those zombie/clay scenes with the other girl Kikyo she was un-hot & dull. I HATED that THE SERIES SEEMED TO GO ON FOR WHAT IT SEEMED A THOUSAND CARTOON EPISODES. IT SEEMED Never ending & so many episodes wasted time & took steps backward into making inuyahasha seem weak & amateurish. those movies made no sense as the main villian Naruko would pretend to die then return at the end. I also wasn't a fan of all the cat & mouse coward hiding the main villian Naruko did,it reminded me of the 1980's type coward villians .

As far as the other Naruto series goes. I saw a few seasons. this series also seems too long to invest into & not enough reason why to invest all that time into. the series basically wasted too much time doing the same repeative stuff & over does the fleshed out personas. SORRY I ain't got the time nor desire to watch hundreds of episodes of a mediocre series. the series looks like it's trying to copy & steal some stuff from DB/DBZ/DBGT.

About the only anime series that I was willing to invest hundreds of episodes of my time into was the DB/DBZ/DBGT series. because the series was always interesting, cutting edge, cool, tried new stuff constantly, very creative, crazy new power ups, awesome characters that were easy to fall in love with & care about. movies had a serious heavy metal vibe/sound.

DB/DBZ/DBGT were cool series because they didn't pull any sucker punches by taking away the characters powers/strenght & make them regress get weaker like the Inuyasaha series was famous for doing. I loved the creativity that went in DB/DBZ/DBGT,those new powers, newer villians, origins, how the newer upgraded/powered up forms looked for the heroes & villians. I also like how the characters kept aging over time & changed their outfits constantly. in my opinion DB/DBZ/DBGT is the best anime ever. everything else pales in comparision.

Big-O was another awesome anime series. mainly because the episodes weren't that many. the episodes got right to the point, didn't waste time. the series had a coolness to it. some of the females were hot. the whole robot love thing with roger was interesting. the robot fights were amazing. a great last episode.

Some of those gundam anime series were hit or miss. gundam wing was the most awesome. again these different series were awesome because their weren't that many episodes. they had a grown up feel, serious nature, sexy females, awesome 3-D personas, great stories, amazing final episodes.

Full metal Alchemist was another interesting series. the stories made no sense & wasted more time. I'd rate the show a 40/60. a few of the females were super hot. I never saw the movie & plan to one day.

Ghost in the shell is just too boring, dull & lack luster for my taste. I don't like the complicated plots/episodes & the fact casual viewers are lost if they don't wach every single episode.

Are you sure you watched the series in order? AS had a habit of reverting back and rerunning episodes from two or three seasons ago when it would run out of episodes. (It still does this, actually, and if you're not paying attention very well it can get a little confusing.) You're the only person I've ever really seen complain about this, so I'm wondering if that's what happened.

Also, yes, this show (and Naruto) have fuckloads of filler; just like DBZ did, because they were running concurrently to the manga. So the manga chapters would come out, the anime would hurry up and adapt it, and then they'd have nothing to adapt for six months so they'd just make crappy filler. And then one of the producers left the show before the manga was finished, so the anime just sort of...ends. (I think they made another one that finished it, though. Or was it a reboot?)

There are better out there, when it comes to the genre as a whole, but it's difficult to find a better example of pure shonen action than DB/DBZ. (GT is terrible.) Bleach might come close but it has all that fucking filler.

Yeah your probably right,on the inuyasha part. I kept seeing re-runs after re-runs & I didn't see enough newer episodes. it seemed like it took CN forever to air the newer episodes.

The inuyasaha series did end with a un-satifying ending. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Inuyasha_episodes
then perhaps the fandom hate convinced the creaters/writters to re-visit the inuyahsa story & do 26 final episodes called the "inuyasaha final act" I haven't seen any of them but read the wiki info about them last night & found them interesting to read the info regarding them.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InuYasha:_The_Final_Act
I'll most likely one day watch those 26 final act inuyasha episodes.

As far as Naruto goes,i'm done. I don't like the series enough, nor the stories, nor the characters enough to invest anymore time into the series.

Full metal alchemist wasn't that bad. I saw every episode but the movie. it was kinda a shame CN didn't want to or wasn't allowed to show the movie. as the cartoon left off with strings un-tied & the movie tied up those strings & gave the series a definate ending.
who knows maybe FYI or amazon.com or ebay has it now for around $5 bucks. I really liked how sexy that women in the alchemist military with the short black hair looked, she was super hot.

GITS ain't for casuals.
I didn't see any sexy drawn females in this series. I didn't find the main star black haired girl/ghost/whatever sexy enough. had the series had a bunch of sexy drawn females in it. I most likely would have gone from CASUAL viewer to constant viewer. Personally the whole point of watching anime cartoon is to see a bunch of sexy drawn females.
