I'm actually sort of worried about the continuity now--isn't WfC supposed to be the new reboot, and in theory these will all line up with that? But Prime isn't Orion Pax there, he's just Optimus (and then becomes Optimus Prime by the end.) It's...confusing.

And we don't know that Jazz might get retconned into being Dion. This is assuming Dion is even a character who's on Hasbro's radar pre-FunPub drudging him back up. In a post-Animated world, Dion would probably get retconned into being Sentinel Prime. (They do have similar colour schemes.)

Hasbro might issue an editorial fiat in the next year or so. Or, pre-movie continuity might be grand-fathered in.

Or, they could be characteristically sloppy.

So is there some kind of editorial mandate that they can't use the old quotes, and have to substitute the worst rewrites of 'em possible? Just wondering, is all.

Nah, I'm sure they just wanted to use this as an opportunity to rewrite things for the future. And I wouldn't really call these the worst bios ever. Sure, there's some odd new bits, but it's not like I'm going ARGH CHILDHOOD RAPE or anything.

Also, it didn't take very long: ATT is now in a debate over whether or not Jazz is now Dion. No, he's not! Dion died! The end!

No, Dion is Ultra Magnus! And, he is Ironhide.....

No. Screw it. Dion is a Hotshot recolor. That is good enough for me.

Hasbro is trying to create a synoptic continuity. But, they are doing so in the most fannish way imaginable.

Actually, aside from the rephrased motto, the entry is not bad. I am thinking I might vote for Shockwave on that basis alone.

At least we know he's not a mutant. Same cannot be said for Soundwave. I just didn't like the last bit about his emotions getting the best of him. Shockwave's whole shtick was that he didn't do that it's really what set him apart from other TFs for me.

Shockwave has always been prone to flashes of annoyance, fear and melancholy. Look at the old comics.

Shockwave is rational about problem solving. And, he is stoic. But, that does not mean he lacks emotion, or that those emotions never get the better of him.

Well yeah, but his original bio stated that illogical, intuitive emotional reactions often confounded him. It's easy to establish that as part of character when you're working up a bio, but to actually put it into functional use in a literary sense is next to impossible. Next to, but not impossible. I think the old comics generally did a good job of portraying him and really did the best they could.

Remember in Spotlight: Shockwave when he goes nuts and incinerates the fleshy altmodes of the Dinobots?
