These Botcon TF comic stories are being grabbed from multi-verses,not just G-1 nor G-2. In various Multi-verses Straxus is alive like the IDW TF Comic universe. [/quote]Onslaught Six wrote:Except Straxus would be dead by the time this was taking place. (Supposedly this is after G2.)

Re: TimeLines (BotCon) 2013 discussion
I was gonna refute Deathy's comment, but he kinda has a point. Last year's Botcon comic had characters hopping into at least three different continuities so who knows where it would end up? Or even which version of Straxus we'd wind up with? It's almost like they have the worst kind of ADD and can't just pick a continuity and stick with it.
Re: TimeLines (BotCon) 2013 discussion
The problem is weak editorial control.
I hope the avoid using Straxus just because Straxus/Megatron/Megaplex is something of a fanon thing (which actually makes it more likely). Straxus made, and inhabited a "clone" (not sure how that term applies, but they used it in the comics) of Megatron back in the UK comics. It was a back-written fix to reconcile the UK and US comics when Furman started writing both. (It is also one of the few black and white stories to not only fit, but be wholly necessary to the main book if you happened to be reading the UK comics.)
Fun Publications has several continuities. And, they are generally there and canonically alternate universes so that they writers can say their comics are consistent with what others have published without actually being bound by what others have published. (In contrast, their Joe comics are set in a timeline vaguely similar to the old Hama comics, and simply ignore the DDP and current IDW books.)
-Wings of Honor: Their "Sunbow" cartoon-derived setting.
-Shattered Glass: Their cliche alternate, moral inversion, setting.
-Classicsverse: This was their US comic-derived setting, which they destroyed. (Hey, at least it is one less place to set bad comics, right?)
-Games of Deception: This is the setting of the 2005 comic. It may or may not be the same place as "Wings of Honor".
-Days of Future Present: This is the BW setting shown in the 2006 set. It may or may not be part of "Wings of Honor".
-Balancing Act: This is Fun Publications' "Unicton Trilogy", shown in the magazine comics and a few text stories. It includes elements of the cartoon and the DW comics as well as the toy packaging. This story actually started when the Fan Club was the only source of new TF comics....
-Transtech: Fun Publications uses this as a "multiversal hub". And, they have set some text stories there.
-3H: Fun Publications picked up and resolved the hanging threads from Hallit's convention comics set post-"Beast Machines" Cybertron. This also includes the (over-written) "Universe" timeline.

Just FYI, Obsidian and Strika in this set are Autobots, so that makes it 3-2 in the set, advantage Autobots.Tigermegatron wrote:My guess is since Hoist is the only autobot surronded by 4 other decepticons in the 2013 botcon gift set. looking at past TFCC botcon years, the majority of the Souvenir/Add-on figures will be autobots. basically 2/3 of the add-on figures will be autobots. while 1/3 of the add-ons are decepticons.
Most people are guessing that the extra figure repainted off of Hoist will actually be Electro from G2, based off the newly-molded head looking more like him than Hoist/Hubcap anyway, and Electro actually needing a new toy, seeing as how all past copies of his G2 figure have pretty much disintegrated by now.My guess is the botcon freebie figure will be deluxe sized as they've never given away a voyager sized toy & probably never will. the 2013 botcon freebie figure my guess will be Hubcap which will be a repaint using the Hoist gift set figure.

And, Thundercracker (presumably) is on the convention hat, which implies a another "Timelines" Thundercracker is in the works. (If I am reading the art right, it is a straight recolour of Skywarp.)
There is no way of knowing if this is the custom class figure or one of the other at show exclusives though.

That would make sense, given that they shared one of the jet molds in original MW.Dominic wrote:And, Thundercracker (presumably) is on the convention hat, which implies a another "Timelines" Thundercracker is in the works. (If I am reading the art right, it is a straight recolour of Skywarp.)
Man, being disappointed with how this set turned out and expecting the crappiness of the comic has me pondering writing Machine Wars fanfic...Dom

(I'd love to be able to produce my own fancomic, I've got some great imaginary visuals I've conjured up. Wait, I know at least two great artists, maybe I should script something up and see what they want to do...)

Do it! It literally cannot be any worse than the convention-exclusive comics. Literally. Can. Not.BWprowl wrote:(I'd love to be able to produce my own fancomic, I've got some great imaginary visuals I've conjured up. AND MIGHT EVEN BE GOOD! 8D

I was a TFCC members for a year or two,I read those club/convention comics & I agree they were awful.Gomess wrote: literally cannot be any worse than the convention-exclusive comics. Literally. Can. Not.

What amazes me is that- and correct me if I'm wrong- as I understand it you technically have to *pay* for the right to read those comics.
And they are, in fact, little more than trashy confusing fanfic you would expect to see on DeviantArt.

I think Deviantart would be giving it too much credit. But yeah, you have to pay for the TFCC membership which I think is like, $40 or something and you get the annual freebie figure along with the comic ever other month. The comic is only one aspect of the fanclub magazine issues, they also have interviews and articles as well that are sometimes worth reading.
