Seeing as how I wasn't ALIVE in 1980 or 1985, I'm gonna have to go with 1998.
Sure, neither was I, just depends on how you define the movement and its roots.

Professional Killer, by KMFDM.

I totally want to shoot up a school now, he said wearing fingerless gloves while typing.

KMFDM is good, too. I have a shirt with the cover of 'symbols' on it.

Why are the Germans so cool?

"Who do you want to be today" by Oingo Boingo. God damn, Elfman is creepy.

I still remember being amazed when I discovered that Godlike sampled 'all' the good bits from Reign In Blood. Slayer suck.

Now I've got Prostitute, by Neuroticfish. Speaking of cool Germans, Neuroticfishguy is up there. Woo woo futurepop.

I...understand the two words seperately, but still, I can't make head or tail of this statement.

I need to fire up somethin' nifty. I just got outta work, where they were rockin' boring "Rich suburb biker bar music" (admittedly, the waitresses at least did highly suggestive dancing on the bar during "Save a Horse, Fucking Kill Me").

The cure for this? "Pay For It (The Son of A Clown Mix) by MSI and M. Shawn Crahan. Rad, loud, and I'm fairly certain it samples HIM's version of Wicked Game. So yeah, just what I need after a long night of suck.

I'm listening, well, watching, Yellow Magic Orchestra, the Japanese band that, along with Kraftwerk, invented Synthpop... play on Soul Train and get interviewed Don Cornelius. They even mention Kraftwerk and he's all "LOL WTF?"

From the "Outer Limits of Human Perception" Department...

Okay, not listening to it now (sadly), but earlier today I decided to go get Chinese food. So I'm in the restaurant, waiting for my take-out, and listening to weird chinese music.

Suddenly I have an "Is that...?" moment. As in, is that somehow "Numa Numa...?" Sure enough. Female Chinese Numa Numa. My brain exploded. It really did.

I badly want to download this now...

EDIT: Yahtzee...found it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jH0sezjt ... re=related

It's the fact that their lyrical content is awful and has no real merit to it. It's the same reason Cannibal Corpse et al are bad, too.

Lyrical content is really important, clearly.

On a related note, I'm listening to the new Metallica single, The Day That Never Comes. The lyrics are Just Okay. One line was cool enough to put in my MSN name, but that's about it. The mix is just alright, the drums and lead guitar seem to overpower the rhythm at times, especially in the intro. Maybe that's intentional? In any case, I'm definitely excited for the new album in general.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.
