No way. If they make any kind of purple Seeker in the near future, it's gotta be Wasteland.

What is it about the arms you don't like?BWprowl wrote:Thta's probably the only situation where I'll buy the original (non-conehead) version of that mold. Otherwise, Skywarp was enough, thanks.Decepticon Spike wrote:I love the Classsics Seeker mold. I hope we see Jesus bot..I mean Sunstorm soon.
The arms on that toy bug me *that* much. The undercarriage isn't too hot, either.
I'm thinking about buying Henkei Thundercracker, so I can have a classic set of the old Seekers.

They're stubby, too-boxy little things with hopelessly stiff elbow joints that really only click into 'straight' and '90 degrees' positions. Plus, even though they have jointing to let them swing out, those joints are so tight that, more often than not, you end up accidentally swinging them out on their transformation panels instead. And of course, there's the whole "can't mount the launchers on 'em without it turning into an articulation nightmare" thing that you'll read about in every review.Decepticon Spike wrote:What is it about the arms you don't like?BWprowl wrote:Thta's probably the only situation where I'll buy the original (non-conehead) version of that mold. Oh, Prowl, clearly you've not received the memo - Classics are the best thing Evar, and no dissention is allowed.of course, there's the whole "can't mount the launchers on 'em without it turning into an articulation nightmare" thing that you'll read about in every review.

I do dig the way they integrated the components during transformation. And Ramjet, though, Ramjet gets points. I heart that Conehead sculpt. But the ClaSeeker mould's been whored out quite sufficiently for my tastes, owning the three Seekers and having Henkei Skywarp and Thundy preordered will put me up to five plus Ramjet. Sigh. Acid Storm, you suck for being so bland and uninteresting.
Although I'd gladly buy a G2 Ramjet redeco.

I thought Wasteland was the crazy lavender Rainmaker Seeker.Onslaught Six wrote:No way. If they make any kind of purple Seeker in the near future, it's gotta be Wasteland.

After Sunstorm and Acid Storm, I move that all new Seekers must be named 'Something'-Storm.

The only proper response would be "one of each, please, thank you".BWprowl wrote:After Sunstorm and Acid Storm, I move that all new Seekers must be named 'Something'-Storm.

Also. Is Sunstorm the yellow rainmaker? I keep thinking he is, but I might be wrong. I'd support a Sunstorm Classics Seeker, if he has the same colors as LoC Sunstorm, who is beautiful.
Going by that, though...brown Seeker named Shitstorm? I dunno, someone was gonna say it.

I'll give it to you about the articulation, especially when mounting the weapons on the shoulders G1 style, but for the rest, I always took it as a bit of an homage to the brickness of the G1 toys.BWprowl wrote:They're stubby, too-boxy little things with hopelessly stiff elbow joints that really only click into 'straight' and '90 degrees' positions. Which was one of my least favorite things about the G1 toys in general, so there you go.Decepticon Spike wrote:I'll give it to you about the articulation, especially when mounting the weapons on the shoulders G1 style, but for the rest, I always took it as a bit of an homage to the brickness of the G1 toys.

Re: Universe Review Thread
Got Universe Onslaught today. Great update of the original Onslaught. This is my second Ultra in as many weeks, and I almost never buy anything but deluxe figures. But G1 nostalgia kicked in, so I couldn't resist. About my only complaint is that I wish the blue was as dark as the original figure. Other than that, there's nothing to dislike.
- with or without the G1 homage, this would be a good Transformer. Both modes are excellent, and the transformation is both simple and creative, with a few steps I hadn't seen before. I'm thinking of the way the legs are formed here.
- the head is a nice update of the original. The wide visor and very narrow mouthplate are the distinctive features, along with the dot on the forehead which is present on the original toy as well, though unpainted.
- the twin guns sticking up over the shoulders are a distinctive part of Onslaught's silhoutte, and the figure wouldn't look right without them.
- I love the green, rivetted panels that end up as TFU Onslaught's feet. They clearly evoke the similar panels on the original figure that are made up of stickers on his shoulders. And of course, the Decepticon insignia is on the right shoulder, just as it is on my original.
- wheels on the legs end up on the back, just as on the original.
As for Onslaught, he's imposingly large and well articulated. The shield is a nice accessory, as is the flip-out wrist gun. The shoulder spikes don't seem particularly useful in this mode, but they do make him look more dangerous.
In short, this is an excellent Transformer, probably better than Powerglide in a number of ways. And like several of the other Universe figures, a character who hasn't been redone a dozen times now, making the character an even more welcome choice.
