Combiner Wars

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

I can see them doing six Voyager-ish class figures in a giftset at the Titan size class together for Devastator. Metroplex proved that they can at least make the scale of that sort of thing happen. My only concern is that all the figures might end up as...simplified and compromised as Generations Bruticus, which was honestly pretty cool as a giftset, but would've been lousy had I bought it piecemeal as individual figures.

If we get a decent new Scrapper out of this deal though, I will totally be in, full-price.

I hope there's some kind of exclusive with a Prowl head.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

If you don't like Metroplex that much, I would gladly take him off your hands and relieve your OCD...for a small fee, of course.

I'd probably boycott the fuckin' thing if they did that.

Disappointment is not the same as dislike. I dislike Hitler. I was disappointed when I saw a production of Tanz der Vampire. Get the difference?

Ooh. I just had a messed up thought. What if Titan Devastator was like the movie version? Six vehicles without robot modes that combine into one bigass robot? I haven't kept up on the rumors, do we know for sure that isn't happening?

I've actually been off the net for the last few days so this thread was the first I've heard of it. But yeah, I could see Hasbro doing that.

I would be interested in a Devastator that included Prowl.

A "traditional" Devastator would be good in that it would probably signal Scrapper's return to the comic, and obligate me to save money by bailing on the hobby altogether.

You talk about "when they were standard" but just look at Jazz and Scourge, two toys released around the same time with different articulation. None of the original Classics had ankle articulation, even the big figures like Prime and Jetfire. Universe 2.0 was a huge crapshoot. Wrists, too! Prowl had wrists but no ankles; Galvatron sorta had ankles but no wrists. Cyclonus has neither! Some dudes have ball jointed heads. Some dudes have swivels. Some got waists, some don't. It all depends on the dude.
Scourge had ankle joints. As did the following:
Tracks/Wheeljack
Sunstreaker/Sideswipe/Red Alert
Hound
Inferno/Grapple
Windcharger
Perceptor
Ironhide/Ratchet
Mirage
Vehicon
TFP Wheeljack

And the others didn't and they were still decent figures.

Also I love how either way, Hasbro can't win here. If Scrapper is included, Dom is out. If Prowl is included, BWProwl is out. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. Personally, I don't think either scenario is likely. I don't think Prowl is likely to be included and I don't think including Scrapper is going to yield his return in the comics.
