IMO, Cybertron didn't carry the story started in Armada and Energon, though I still need to check out Galaxy Force form Japan.Dominic wrote:I fully agree about SWTF. But, what is your problem with "Cybertron" and RiD?

The only Japanese shows I've seen in the first few episodes of Headmasters, which I likes, and I count that as G1.The only other I've seen is Beast Wars II The Movie.Gomess wrote:Decepticon Spike is officially The Man. =p
I notice you don't mention any Japanese TF stuff though, you never get around to it? Just 'cos it's one of my favourite parts of the franchise, if not THE favourite in my eyes (I've always lived in England, but I was mostly raised on Japanese TV, just so y'know). Still hunting for a cheap Victory DVD boxset...
...I can't wait to see what Japan does as a response to Animated! >_>
I'd really recommend avoiding Galaxy Force. It's like Cybertron, but more boring. Doesn't have the clever dubbing factor in its favour. Armada I enjoy a fair bit in retrospect, though I was wholeheartedly underwhelmed at the time, and Energon is the one TF show I really can't stand. So not the world's biggest loss that Takara's marketing team didn't grasp the "Hasbro wants a continuation" concept fully, as far as I'm concerned. But Cybertron's also pretty lame in its own right, so.IMO, Cybertron didn't carry the story started in Armada and Energon, though I still need to check out Galaxy Force form Japan.
Got it. I'd say it's a loose continuation, "elseworlds" to use a term I just posted on. It's closer than RiD to (anything) but further than Armada to Energon, obviously.onslaught86 wrote:The characters are definitely designed to follow on from Armada and Energon, it was certainly the intention. Then Takara and Gonzo went and borked up the show. Hasbro attempted to retcon this via the toy bios and "the black hole warps space and time."
I agree that the RID toys were kick ass, especially the Autobot Brothers. IMO. The only RID Predacon I got was Megatron, as a birthday gift. The others I never got around to.Dominic wrote:I can see not getting into RiD for story. But, dang, the toys are amazing.
The problem with "Cybertron" is that it was not drafted to fit with "Armada" and "Energon". That would explain most of the inconsistencies between the 3.
When you first said you did not like RiD and "Cybertron", I thought you were talking more about the toys. (I often forget there was an RiD cartoon.) I can completely agree with you about the shows. "Cybertron" was a great draft of a show, but not a good show unto itself.

-fondly remembers buying BWII bootleg episodes at local cons. "Get my future...."
We call them the Cario Bros. or the Carios around these here parts. It's a parody of the Mario Bros., obviously. Yes it makes no sense since there's two Mario Bros. and three Carios. Nobody cares.Decepticon Spike wrote:I agree that the RID toys were kick ass, especially the Autobot Brothers.
Gigatron's a great mould, probably the best in the line. Fire Convoy and God Magnus are also awesome. The rest of the Predacons are all repaints, and the only one that's truly a 'worthwhile' good new one is Sky-Byte. Not to say the others aren't worth owning or anything, but they're not as drastically altered as Sky-Byte is. The Decepticons consist of, well, Ruination and Scourge. Ruination's a great way to get a minty-feeling Combaticon set, even if the colours are different. I somehow prefer Ruination's grey to Valdigus's gold. Scourge is awesome and I don't have him.IMO. The only RID Predacon I got was Megatron, as a birthday gift. The others I never got around to.
