Any toy over 20-30 lately (at least with TFs) has been easy skip with me. I've usually gotten the leader class figures before, but I think I'll be skipping it this time around.

I... would never spend more than £10 (Iunno, you do the math!) on a toy. I guess that disqualifies me as a "collector".

A cut off like that pretty much puts you out of the hobby. Assuming a roughly 1:1 exchange, (and the real exchange is close enough), that would not even get you a scout at modern prices.

I tend to budget for toys. I can either buy more smaller/cheaper toys, or fewer larger/expensive toys. For example, I could only justify getting those BotCon toys last year because I skipped so many toys leading up to it. If I get a larger toy, I have to make space and budget money for it.

Are Scouts the same as Basics...? Because those go for more like £5 around here. Have done for over a decade.

Yeah, Scouts are Basics, they got renamed by Hasbro around...Cybertron, I think? Damn things have been close to ten bucks around here. They used to be the cheap kind of impulse buys that could net you a fun little robot dude, but anymore it's hardly worth getting a Scout over a Deluxe. Put in about the same amount of money for less robot? Forget that.

OT: Yeah, I think I'm gonna have a pretty heavy skip rate for DOTM stuff. Nothing I've seen from it looks terribly appealing.

Dom's equation is off, the exchange rate (from having been an American that lived there and needed to have both currencies frequently on hand) was about 1$ = 1.5- Pounds. Now it's gone up to almost a solid 2-1 ration (2 pounds per American dollar). So yeah, it's about the same over there.

And Scouts are still *over* $10 around these parts. Gomess, you want to buy some Legends?

Dom
-damn, skipping DOTM is gonna be easy on my wallet.

For you, y'mean? I can barely afford to do my laundry at the moment, but once I get paid at the end of the month I'll try to find time to hang around a toy shop, see what I can see.

Oh, no. I was kidding. (Shipping would make that a bad idea anyway.)

I was saying "Well, you want to limit yourself to such a low cut-off, just about the only things you will be able to justify are going to be Legends figures."

In all seriousness, have you considered uppingthe amoung per figure, but limiting the number of figures? You have more options that way, and get better toys. (In all seriousness, give me one good Voyager instead of 4 or 5 mediocre Legends.)

Dom
-still kinda tempted by some Takara stuff though....
