I never said it was *good*. But, it is official, and thus I count it.

Dom
-oh, it was awful. But, it was official.

Scourge and I aren't arguing that it isn't official or that in never happened, we're just saying that we don't count it because it wasn't a mass comic retail available title. And actually, I could argue that it's not "Beast Machines" any more than BM is BW, one being a continuation of the other. I think Scourge was arguing for a BM comic that actually took place during the events of the show.

Scourge has a tendency to discount comics that he does not like.

Dom
-wants to ignore so much that is official.

Well, mostly I tend to disregard the convention comics, for the same reasons that Shockwave said. If it's Comics I just don't like, it's more that I just don't read 'em.

I have a unique ability to ignore official content, especially if it retcons previously other official content. Case in point: Star Wars. I really regard the 2 trilogies as 2 separate continuities. Most of the convention comics have been retconned by other more official material and can therefore be easily and legitimately ignored.

The biggest retcon of convention comics was in IDW "Beast Wars" comics, so there is little in the way of good alternatives.

Either way, I try to avoid fanon. Official is official is usually not open to debate. If the official content is not good enough for me, why would I stick around and do the writer's job for them?

Dom
-wishes that the convention comics were not official.

So now I'm wondering if you ever came up with an answer to the question you posed to us on bwtf: "Is there a legitimate reason for ignoring official content other than personal preferrence?".

And the answer I had then remains the same now: When it sucks.

Well, there's "Approved by licenseholder" and there's "Official". The convention comics, when they tie into old shows or comics, take place after all of the action from the main show, and then they go off on a tangent, said tangent usually being "...And then all these dudes from other dimensions showed up!". So I feel pretty safe in ignoring 'em, because it's never going to come up again in any context other than their own. So if I wanted to read the retarded story that takes place after Beast Machines, I know where to go. Or the retarded story that takes place after G1 or whatever. But it's not like I'll be watching a new episode of Beast Machines, and one of the Wreckers'll show up or something.

Like, if I'm watching "Dexter" and I'm completely pissed about how Season Four ended, I could ignore that, but when I'm watching Season Five, it's gonna be pretty clear at every opportunity that Season Four was a thing. Because that's an ongoing show that's made by the real makers of the thing. If I'm reading a theoretical Dexter comic, and I don't care for the story at all, then it's safe to ignore, even if it's licensed, because it's not the show. Wreckers comics aren't the show, they're some guys messing with show characters and toy characters, but they aren't Beast Machines, so they can't screw it up.

Or yeah, basically, what he said.

Ok, so then what do you do if it doesn't suck, but it's still contradictory to other official content?
