Anybody give a crap about the movie line right now?

Money, violence, sex, computer graphics, scatalogical humor, racism, robots designed to be rednecks but given European accents, and maybe another sequel to the saga... what's not to love? TF m1, Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon and now Age of Extinction.

I somewhat care about the line. I'm buying pretty much all the new Scouts (Brimstone and Hubcap are boss), and at least *some* of the new Deluxes. BBBB's great, and SidearmSwipe is good from the waist up. I would buy Hailstorm, but I'm waiting for the Mindset repaint. And I really need to get up the gumption to buy Seaspray, especially with Breacher out soon. There's even some repaints I want, with Sunspot and Axor out soonish.

For the most part, yeah, I'm not really all that interested in the movie line right now. There are a couple figures that I think look pretty cool, but I'm more interesting in upcoming Generations figures.
Good lord man, have you seen....oh, the glory. My word those are some damn pretty toys.
You talking about the new Club Magazine? Yeah, I about had a heart attack. We discussing that anywhere yet?

Eh, don't let Walky's dreams of smashing canon where it doesn't belong get to you. Sideways is a solid toy (well, I've got Dead End, actually, but still)

Wreck-Gar thread, I guess.

Hate on Willis all you want. But, the Sideways-gate was all Jim Sorenson. Sorenson is the jack-ass who put a "heh, not really" into a *sourcebook*. Walky just altered the wiki to reflect what was in the sourcebook....not knowing that Sorenson was being an ass.

That whole incident just shows how self-indulgent the hobby is becoming. In all seriousness, it really did leave a bad taste in my mouth, more than any beast-related idiocy.

I might actually pick up Deadend if I see one cheap though.

I've been skipping for a couple of reasons, one of which is that, like others have said, it's hard to justify buying a toy that's a repaint of one you already have for a higher price, especially if it's the same character. I have bought some HFTD though, the Devastator set from Toysrus and legends Rampage (which is NOT a repaint of the one with the set). I've also got Bludgeon, Banzaitron and Seaspray. And Hubcap. Damn, I have bought a lot of this relatively speaking. But my main focus is still Generations.

And I was even looking at possibly revisiting my custom fanmode movie Devastator project, but to get the remaining peices I would have to get two of them in boxed sets with figures I don't necessarily want, effectively driving the price of such a project much higher. I need Rampage which is available in the Bumblebee set, but $30 just for a deluxe? Couldn't do it. Plus I got new glasses recently which did a headshot to my budget.

Shockwave
- Walky and Sorenson can both suck it.

It looks like this thread is showing a 2/3rds "screw ROTF" response, bad for Hasbro. Nobody is really talking about the line in general though, not the 1/3rds that do care.

Dominic wrote:Still, I am not going to blame packaging for slow sales. At this point, the movie toys are simply old hat. They do not even have the novelty value that toys from the firse movie would have had. I am also seeing red card movei toys sitting on shelves, and I live in a high traffic area. The only thing that seems to be selling is "Generations", which Hasbro seems least interested in pushing.
Around here, all the old packaging leftovers are Mudflap. That figure has out-pegwarmered ROTF Wheelie now. TRU is forever stuck with MOUNTAINS of that shit.

138 Scourge wrote:Seaspray looks pretty neat, but not really twenty bucks worth of rad. Of course, I thought the same thing about Bludgeon at one point.
Seaspray is no Bludgeon though, not by a longshot.
As for everything else in the yellow packaging, I might get Breacher, but as much as I love the Scout class, it's harder to justify damn near ten bucks for 'em.
TRU has 'em for $8, most Targets here do too, but the Target by me that gets to upcharge product because they're in an urban area (Glendale does this too) has raised the price on scouts to $10.79, 80 cents higher than the deluxes I bought there last night! Still, if any Scout were worth $8, it's Breacher! Best little figure I've ever bought.

Dominic wrote:I wonder, if the TF brand as a whole is cannabalizing itself. Is "Generations" cutting into RotF or PCC?
An interesting question. In terms of fans, I'd say definitely on ROTF and no on PCCs. For casual consumers, I'd say ROTF still rules the roost, and they are the trailblazers on the line.

donosaur wrote:This lack of interest in movie stuff is making my chances for shilling off my unwanted movie crap look rather slim.
I must confess, I had a similar thought about my movie 1 stuff.

Onslaught Six wrote:I'm interested in it! Or I would be, if I could find anything beyond the first wave of the yellowbox stuff here. I really want Hailstorm. Terradive and Tomahawk look like positively spiffy figures, I do hope they filter out here.
I am in that boat as well. I'm sure we'll start seeing new stuff faster as the holidays arrive. I picked up Hailstorm and Sidearm Sideswipe last night at Target finally. Hailstorm is pretty lame tho'.

The ROTF line has been kind of hit and miss for me. I'm interested in some stuff, but when most of it is comprised of repaints of earlier figures, again, it's just really hard to justify the purchase. Example, I've been kind of eyeballing Payload and Leader Starscream. Payload because I want to do that constructicons thing again and leader Starscream because well, I've heard from some around here that he's awesome. But when I compare the difference of what i'd be getting for ~$50ish, I'm better off with MP Grimlock. Or 5 new Generations figs. Oh hey! Wait, I did get Jetblade too! Thought he was pretty well executed. I dunno, it's not instant buy for my like Generations is, but I do have some interest in about half of what's out/coming out.

I keep seeing Jetblade and being disappoint that I missed Dirge.

I do sorta want Payload, now that Shockwave brings him up. Eye him every so often in the store, because I do genuinely like the mould and the colours are weird enough to grab me. Would've liked more yellow, or perhaps replace his green with a dark gold colour, but hey.

I found two Masterpiece Grims in my TRU on the tiptop shelf, so I passed. Plus isn't he like seventy bucks?

I am seeing Dirge as well. Plenty of Dirge.

That said, I get the feeling that PCC will not make it if Hasbro cuts something. Generations seems to be selling more. Still, I will buy all of the Commanders for PCC, and likey multiples of some combiners for customizing.

Dom

About eighty bucks with tax and everything, more like. He's a completely rad toy, but I could easily see people passing because of that kind of price. Hell, if it wasn't that particular version of that particular character, I would've had to think really hard about buying it.

For me, it was this or shell out ~150 for the Japanese version so I figure half price is great for an awesome toy like this. I have no complaints with it whatsoever.
