Encore Minibots

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!

I got a G1 Ratchet missing his crap for $12 or something.

I generally prefer the reissues too, but if there's a decent condition G1 toy for a decent amount, I'll be sure to snap it up. And if there's a Just Alright If Not Bad condition G1 toy for like $3, hell yeah I'll grab one, and fix him up to boot. Both my G1 Prime and G1 Onslaught come from that vein--they were $3 and $1 respectively.

Then there was Five Cent Shockwave who fell apart a year later because his inner screws cracked. Damn!

If a toy is broken/missing bits, I just to do not bother. I got a dirt cheap Skywarp back in the day. It was about 80% complete. But, completing the other 20% more than cost me enough in difficulty and time to make it not worth while. One of the pieces I needed was a tail-fin. As the toy had c-9 stickers, I needed to find a c-9 tail-fin. I wound up buying 2 other junkers for parts, and still had to hunt around for a couple of pieces, which I got thanks to yellowmonster.com. I never did find pefectly matching tail-fins.

One of the reasons I like Encores is that they have fewer stickers.

The guy actually offered to find the missiles and gun for me if I threw in more money, but I went with the rationale of "I'm digging in bins on the floor for action figures from 1984. I don't really care if he's got the gun or not."

This is one of those fundamental points I disagree with guys like you and 86 on. You two are happy to have the toy. I see little point in owning anything less than c7.

I am bit more tolerant about it with some lines than other. But, with TF, missing a gun or missile is like me missing my glasses or a shoe. Glasses and shoes or gloves not technically a part of me, (like a hand), but they are a key bit all the same in many situations.

I think a good bit of it is that I didn't exactly take very good care of my toys as a child, so I can appreciate sorta making do with a figure missing bits. Even, occasionally, very vital bits. So I can somehow appreciate owning an incomplete toy.

Plus, sometimes fixing them up is half the fun. But that's because I have a lot of time on my hands.

That's my reaction to the majority of reissues. This set, hey, there's enough Minibots I don't have to be keen. Minibots aren't mind-bogglingly awesome, so they're not particularly high up my vintage to-get list.
The only time I go crazy over the reissue/encore figs are when it's one I don't have.
Though my fiance' does want bumblebee since he has a show accurate face.

Most of my G1's are form my youth, and most are in C7 or better. Never played with them much, though my brother did manage to smash a few when he got his hands on them.
When my former stepson chipped a piece off of G1 Soundwave's head, it was like a family member got shot or something.

Depends, for me, has to be a mould I don't have, and interesting enough to justify Inflated Reissue Price. For example, I don't have G1 Ironhide or Jazz, but I do have Ratchet and Stepper. Autobot cars don't excite me a lot either.

Reflector, now that I'd be into. Headmasters'd impress me, seeing as I don't have any of the Autobot Headmasters (Yet own all of the Decepticons, heh). A proper metal Bruticus giftset with that bloody D-64 launcher, an e-Hobby Metrotitan.. There's possibilities. Do still want reissue God Ginrai and Magnus.

Given that I was never overly impressed with G1 engineering, even as a kid, I tend to go for characters I like. So, I will take Encore Jazz, despite having Ricochet/Stepper and the re-issue of Jazz from '03.

I do want Metroplex, and to a lesser degree Metrotitan.

I wanted an Omega Sentinel until I saw that gaudy Autobot sigil on its chest.

I wanted a Guardian Robot until they showed pics, and he was in blah show blue instead of the intensely awesome pre-TF Omegatron colours. Such a waste!

That's where we differ in out collecting styles. I'd buy the same mold over and over again IF they were all different characters. In the few cases where I got a mold. and it was the same character, different paint job, I usually make him a new character.
Which really works when my friends and I RPG and I want to bring in a new character.
