Riff on it? Screw you, it was 'awesome.' (*waits for inevitable "Awesomely BAD!" comeback*) Plus, if we still had it, don't you think we'd have it archived somewhere? Everything was lost with the old boards when Ben signed the Figures.com contract, they forced him to change forums, and he did with...no warning whatsoever.

Stuff like that was kinda what made me glad we moved away. Ben's a good guy and everything, but it's like he only had a forum because he thought he was supposed to have a forum, and didn't really keep up on it too much. The only RP from the old Ikonboard is what little we made of Ethereal.

D'aw, I thought 86 kept it? Hohum. Don't misunderstand me, though; I never riff out of hate. But some self-deprecating humour is always fun.

And it did have its bits that made no sense. Why does colouring Brave Max funny colours make him into Metrotitan? And Onslaught Six was such the godmodded character. Weren't there plans to have him murder Clench's henchmen than never came to be?

All I remember is I somehow pulled off MaxB vs. Gigastorm, and got to have Deathsaurus fly down a busy highway. And yell really loud at the North Pole.

Yes. And had MaxB reveal to Hellscream that he could talk. The 'entire time.' And also Valdigus ended up dying, and Dolrailer combined with the Beetras. 'The fucking Beetras!' And Valdigus was a separate guy from Ruination. Who was epically huge.

And Dancougar showed up at the end to...do something. 86 explained it to me once. RID2 suffered from having waaaay too many badass apocalypse moments at the same time. Megabolt, man! :p

Wow, you can really derail a thread, can't you, G?

Alright, I'm an AllSpark sleeper agent sent here to disrupt the board, I admit it. ;p

Oh yeah, didn't we have Metrotitan- lacking his head and right hand- combine with Megabolt and Gigatron to replace them? Awesommmme.

Yes. In the biggest, dumbest way. You can tell this was fanfickery created by a couple of teenagers. I'm surprised Drift isn't in it.

Back on topic!

I had this idea: What about some kind of podcast? You think we can rig something like that together? I've sorta always wanted to do something like that, and if we have enough people on the forum interested in participating (and we can schedule that kind of thing conveniently)...

I do like the idea of a podcast. Is this something we can produce reliably and consistently?

As for where to place RiD. I am in favor of putting it in with the "Beast Era". Even discounting its (dubious to begin with) context, RiD has more engineering and aesthetic similarities to "Beast Wars" and "Beast Machines" than any other line. (As O6 pointed out, it uses molds from every line that preceeded it.) The modern (for the time) moulds in RiD use Beast Era engineering.

"Armada" used all new engineering, to say nothing of moulds. UT toys do not even look right when displayed with Beast Era and earlier. TFU Hotshot's packaging lists the "Unicron Trilogy" as an era unto itself. The only similarity RiD really had with the UT is that some of the toys (most store exclusives) used similar packaging style. But even then, it did not say "Armada" or "Energon" on the packaging.

Maybe we should organize the forums in a way similar to have DvD organizes his page. Toy lines could be grouped together by era, but without regard to how active they are. This saves us from having to move one forum or another around, or creating a "modern ________" when the old "___________" line is revived.

As I've previously said, I'm totally down with a "by era" format. Very intuitive, especially for newbies (and I AM a newbie, where contemporary lines are concerned; I have no idea what Generations is, for example).

I dunno! I've got recording stuff, mind, but it's all at my other house, likely won't be able to do anything for another few weeks. It also depends on scheduling for everybody else. I mean, I've got nothing to do after work, so I'm free.
EDIT: I've seen other podcasts use Skype to do this. I've little experience with it, but as I remember, Skype is free to call anybody who also has Skype. (And my phone plan has calling anywhere in the US, so if it comes down to that, I can do it--but I hate phone quality.)

The big thematic point I've been trying to get across, yes. But that says nothing about how I think the board should be organized. It's contradictory, I know, but right now I like it because it's damn well streamlined, and some of the forums simply flounder since they don't have much activity--like Animated, it being an essentially dead line means there's next to no discussion there.

"Dear Hasbro, how should we organize our forums?"

Generations is the upcoming Classics/Universe line. Starts in the fall. So far it's got Drift and...the War For Cybertron toys, I guess.
