Re: Hasbro (Round 9) Q and A
While the movie line of toys has no doubt been a big seller, the design aesthetic has left more than a few fans feeling left out in the cold. Are there any non-movie-related lines being planned for 2010?

There is a non-movie line in the works. "Battle for Cybertron", or something like that.

Indeed. Plus, Power Core Combiners seems to be only tangentially related to the movie. Like I said before--we'll definitely know more about that at Toyfair.

Re: Hasbro (Round 9) Q and A
I recall a question from past Q&As asking if we'd see more characters from other lines reinterpreted in the movie aesthetic. Lockdown was mentioned specifically, and it seems they thought that was a good idea. Despite my distaste for the "multiverse" being one big continuity, I absolutely love multiple takes on a single design - see my wall of Prime toys. So I'm definitely in favour of Movie/G1/Animated/Whatever versions of existing characters, especially the more obscure (AKA non-G1) characters.
Movie Sky-Byte, anyone?
So, question: With Lockdown as an example, are we likely to see any other characters from non-G1 timelines make an appearance in the movie lines?

Thanks. I'm still a bit slow about getting into the habit of checking up around here, but I'll work on that.onslaught86 wrote:I recall a question from past Q&As asking if we'd see more characters from other lines reinterpreted in the movie aesthetic. I say we re-work this one.So, question: With Lockdown as an example, are we likely to see any other characters from non-G1 timelines make an appearance in the movie lines?
Will we see more secondary characters from one aesthetic being translated to others? This questions is especially focused on new character-specific moulds (like movie Lockdown) rather than recolors (like movie Gears). What is the process behind deciding which characters get this treatment?

Re: Hasbro (Round 9) Q and A
Just a quick update, on Tuesday, I'm going to make an effort to find out what is going on with Q&A. Hasbro hasn't given us a new schedule despite this being the middle of February, I'm hoping they're not canning it.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Re: Hasbro (Round 9) Q and A
I've got a few more:
1. Ever since it was made known that the mold was originally intended for the "Battle for the Sparks" portion of the Beast Machines line, there's been much speculation as to what RiD Bruticus' "spark gimmick" was supposed to be. Was this gimmick ever established in development, before being scrapped, and if so, what was it meant to do?
2. What happens to the toy releases that never came to be, like Beast Wars 10th Anniversary Ravage or the dropped Botcon releases? Do the developers hold onto them until they find another line they can drop them in, as Classics Cosmos seems to indicate? What's the statute of limitations for how long the team puts the "lost figures" on the backburner, before they're forced to scrap them entirely?
3. With the incredible success of the Shattered Glass continuity, is there any plans to explore a "Shattered Glass" version of other lines?

Re: Hasbro (Round 9) Q and A
I think they sorta answered the second question before. Nothing ever ends up off the table entirely, and they just kinda reuse anything they think will fit right now. For example, the recent ROTF Bludgeon started out back in Energon.
