Re: November Hauls
A bit of free time.
Movie Thrust - o86 nailed it, though I didn't fall for the trap of buying the first figure. The sad part is, this guy COULD have been really good with some heavy tweaks, but the design art it comes from still has all the wings on the back and the tiny, low head.
12" Sideshow Collectibles Lando Calrissian - great likeness, good but simple costume, new prometheus body still has bugs to work out, painfully overpriced.
New distributor for my car - and it looks like I better take advantage of its warranty as it may be frying itself, wouldn't start yesterday for no reason.
Movie Stratosphere - when he was on sale for $15 last month. A little fun, a little frustrating, not that good overall though.
Clone Wars Y-wing - very cool, not really worth the $65 price tag but probably worth $50.
Hasbro AT-ST - very keen, worth the $45, lots of accuracy, lots of cockpit, lots of range of motion.
Zen Pinball for PS3 - a downloadable $10 game. Very nice, uses a real physics engine, has multiple cameras, optional slo-mo, sixaxis-based tilt, saving, playing one's own music, and more.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Re: November Hauls
Picked up Transformers Continuum at lunch today. As always, it takes most of my lunch hour to get over to the comic shop, buy the book and get back, so I haven't had time to really read it yet, just flip through it. It's a nice effort, with a chronology of all the IDW books in the back and a summary of the story so far, pieced together from all the mini-series and spotlight issues. Some factual errors and omissions when it comes to the stories it references though, which are bound to set some people off. I can see the complaints now...
And poor Sunstreaker... yikes.

Re: November Hauls
Just got back from a holiday to EnZed's largest city (Still tiny by the standards of..pretty much anywhere else) on wednesday, spent two days there. Purpose of the trip was to go see Arch Enemy play on the 10th, 'twas a great gig.
Picked up a bunch of stuff:
- Illicit t-shirt. There's a fun alternative boutique brand here by the name of Illicit. There art's usually great, if pricey. I have a few shirts and such, and since the local outlet closed down, the Auckland store's the last remaining one, so I was keen to go back. Found a shirt I really liked - not from Illicit itself, but from an op-shop around the corner. And it was better than the current season's designs! Win-win.
- Long-sleeved Arch Enemy shirt. Pretty good, but the regular shirt was better. And sold out. Fie.
- A copy of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, which has been a real pain to track down. How odd, for such a well-known book.
Raided the large specialty music stores for CDs also:
- NIN's Closer to God single for ten bucks. Glee!
- Ungod, by Stabbing Westward
- Last Rights, by Skinny Puppy
Aaaand:
- ROTF Stratosphere. At last! Muahaha. Been eagerly awaiting this one since fiddling with another collector's Strato six months back. Really pleased with this one, he didn't suffer too much from the loss of the shuttle. Articulated nicely, long, lanky, and different design, satisfying transformation that's a little fiddlier than I'd like in places. Does some very different things for a jetformer, and that's good. Mech alive in arms is great, but hard to see, hopefully a recolour will fix that. This one's worth picking up, stands (literally) head and shoulders above most of the other entries in the price point for ROTF.

Re: November Hauls
Why is everyone just getting Stratosphere now, it seems? I got him months ago! I fully lay claim to liking him before he was popular.
Anyway, I swung by Target on my way to a friend's house and holy crap found the Ice Cream Twins! One left, to be exact. Suck it, scalpers! Haven't opened it yet, but I'll post thoughts when I do. I might order that reprolabels set for it.

There were tons of ice cream twins around here at one point. Is the set really that rare? I'd never have known.BWprowl wrote:Anyway, I swung by Target on my way to a friend's house and holy crap found the Ice Cream Twins! One left, to be exact. Suck it, scalpers! Re: November Hauls
He didn't show up here until about early October for me (while I was looking for Long Haul) and there's still only just a few right now. If I'm not mistaken, they were all of Nowhere down in EnZed.BWprowl wrote:Why is everyone just getting Stratosphere now, it seems? I got him months ago! Somewhat. I've seen it multiple times, but it was always a different set (I'm assuming) and usually at a different store.andersonh1 wrote:There were tons of ice cream twins around here at one point. Is the set really that rare? I'd never have known.

Re: November Hauls
Well I live in scalper central. The set I bought was only the second one I'd ever seen. Dave van Doleman's review mentioned that scalpers were really after this toy, so that's what I decided to blame for my difficulty in spotting these guys.

Re: November Hauls
I got it when I did because it was on sale. It didn't look good enough to pay full price, so I held out. Basically, the DVD came out and prices went down.BWprowl wrote:Why is everyone just getting Stratosphere now, it seems? I got him months ago! I fully lay claim to liking him before he was popular.
Good find. I've not seen it at Target but once, and that was recently. Most of the time I've seen it at WM, on endcaps Scalpers don't bother with.Anyway, I swung by Target on my way to a friend's house and holy crap found the Ice Cream Twins! One left, to be exact. Like O6 said, I'm only getting him now because..he only just came out here. Sorta. Kmart got in an outsourced case or two of Long Haul in vehicle mode and Stratosphere, both of which sold out nigh instantly. It took until now to get more Stratos, though we've had robot mode Long Haul for some time. I'd been eagerly awaiting him since I got to fiddle with a friend's pre-release version.
