the broken street date thread
Re: the broken street date thread
I agree that there are many promising figures. (I even kind of like the twins, if only for their schlub charm.) I am arguing that in this case, the toys have to sell themselves. I have bought middling, even lousy, toys on the strength of the character's context. That simply will not happen with the movie toys, (barring some good tie-in books). When I am trying to save money and space, and a large toy is less than stellar, I am simply going to skip that toy, rather than say, "well, I really liked him in _________". And, I have to really like a toy to buy it on its own.

Sideswipe, Rampage and Voyager Megs are the only toys I've seen so far that really seem worth buying (can't afford leader Optimus). We'll have to see if any of the bots in the movie deliver so much eye-melting coolness that I find myself helpless to not buy them.

Re: the broken street date thread
Rampage's I Am Entirely Yellow factor puts me off him. Interesting idea, reminds me of Scarem a bit, but definitely needs more colour to grab me. Mega Megs looks Mega nifty, and vastly cooler than Super Megs. Shame, as I was initially all excited for Super Megs. Hopefully we'll get a premium Mega Megs repaint in shiiiny silver at some point.

The weird thing is, there's listings for a red one. And he keeps looking like he's red in movie bits.

Re: the broken street date thread
The local Target closer to where I live has broken the street date for ROTF with the Robot Heroes, but nothing else. The Target closer to where I work (where I was hoping to find some Universe Voyagers on clearance today, but no such luck) has a large empty section with a sign reading "Figures available May 30", or something similar.
Re: the broken street date thread
Walgreen's, at least in my area, are putting out the scout figures. I picked up Knockout-- he's okay. Nifty little bike mode, robot mode's a little flimsy.
I disappear.
Re: the broken street date thread
Thanks Mirage. Good news on that find. The Targets 'round here do not even seem ready for street-date. The stores in Everett and Somerville, MA do not even have shelf tags, let alone space. And, even supervisors do not know if the toys will be out on Saturday.
Dom-checking Walgreens tonight.

Thanks to Mirage's tip, I snagged Ransacked on the way home.
And, the 7-11 on MA Ave (Central Square Cambridge, near The Middle East) has the Prime head cups, but no spoons.
Dom-too giddy to review Ransack.

Snagged Knockout. The transform is annoying, like an Alternator, and the instructions are not helpful.
Toys seen but not purchased:
-Medford Walgreens on rt 16: Deadend and Dirtboss with a Ransack.
Malden Walgreens: Dirtboss and Depthcharge
Everett Walgreens: Dirtboss,
Ransack at Everett and Medford.

Re: the broken street date thread
What's with the seeming shelfwarminess of Dirt Boss? Am I the only one who was ecstatic to hear about this guy? Are forklifts just not cool enough for everyone else?
