Re: Botcon 2015 News - Combiner Wars and Titan Wars
SRP on Deluxes is I think $16 now, maybe even $17. It's too high for the quality of the product, but at the same time, the size prevents me from saying "yeah, I'd pay EVEN MORE for this." I have limits, I have bought a few Masterpiece cars so far but those have limits too, their quality is good but their size keeps them from being worth what Hasbro and TRU is asking at this point. So if they were $20 for main line, they'd have to be outstanding, and I just don't think Hasbro can deliver outstanding at this point, they are up against too many battles to get the product out the door as-is.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

The last time I looked at a deluxe in a store it was a TRU and I just assumed they all cost that much now.Sparky Prime wrote:The only place I've seen a deluxe figure at $20 was Toys R Us. Everywhere else they're still $15. If they have any... Last time I was at a Wal-Mart they only had RID one-step changers and a couple Combiner Wars Voyagers. They didn't even have the space set up for anything else on the shelf.

Deluxes are $18 or so around here, though K-Mart has been selling them for $10 or so.
Nobody wants to see a price bump. I want Hasbro to step up their game for what they are charging now.
It is not just the size of the toys that makes them less worth while, it is the actual quality. The current figures have less paint and articulation than figures from 5 years ago. Hasbro is releasing Voyagers and larger (CW Prime or Jetfire) with lazy design elements that would have been (barely) okay on Legion scale figures from a decade ago.
The problem with Masterpiece, besides cost, is that the figures do not look good with anything other than Masterpiece. They look good. But, Masterpiece looks out of place with non-Masterpiece, because of both size and quality.
