Toy Fair Reveals - Leader Ultra Magnus, Defensor, more

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

Magnus is a mixed bag. This is an odd case of the toy looking like the comic being a drawback for me. (I just do not like the look of the truck mode. But, it evokes the art style of the comics, which is objectively good.) The Ambus figure looks better in concept than execution.

I will have to see Magnus in person before making my decision. (I like IDW's take on Ultra Magnus well enough. But, given the price of the toy, I want to see it before making the decision to buy it.) Still, Magnus is a step up form Jetfire in that I have not ruled it out before actually seeing it in stores.

Warpath..... Not a bad mould. But, it undermines Hasbro's stated plan to make all of the '84/'85 Minibots in one aesthetic. And, it pretty much kills my inclination to be a completist for that scale. (I am also less annoyed at not being able to find Gears and Windcharger.)

Viper is interesting, and is the second legitimate TF/Joe cross-over toy at retail. But, I am still annoyed about not finding Powerglide at retail. (If I do not get a complete Superion, I might just throw my hands up and walk away.)

The Cyclonus/Galvatron combination might be interesting. But, I want to see what the other figures in the set are.

I'm pretty excited for Magnus and Defensor. Viper as well. Warpath, not so much. I kinda wish they had just reissued the previous version. I am still annoyed at not finding Gears, especially since I have found all the others (except Powerglide and Bombshell, I ordered those).

Dom, honestly, if you're going to try to find all five of any one combiner at retail, you're screwed. The only way to get them is piecemeal because of Hasbro's release schedule. The only one they're doing in a boxed set is Devastator. Other than that, it's mixed bagville for the rest of the line. You would honestly be better off buying online for figures you know you're going to want.

Yeah, it is literally not possible to find every member at once, since some of them aren't out in the same waves.

Magnus is a must-have, the Minimus thing making up for any non-cab-roboting that I could bitch about. It's enough that I just put away my G1 Magnus, finally.

Defensor looks great and it's amazing how little of him is actually new--First Aid and Streetwise are Stunticons and Blades is Alpha Bravo, and the tank thing will more than likely become Brawl.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

I plan on buying all of the Generations Combiners Wars toys. Also plan on buying all of the Generations CW Leader sized toys.

Normally I don't buying Legends sized TF toys. But since some fans online have found ways to put most of the Generations CW Legends toys as Gestalts chest plates, Targetmasters and so forth. I'm going to buy most of these toys just for those fan modes.

Those aren't fan modes, those Legends figures were actually designed to be chest plates or weapons for the Gestalts.

Talked to Lewis Brooks yesterday. He found reports confirming that Slingshot and Wildrider are *not* going to be released in the US.

In other words, we either need to cough up money for the imports (which may be part of boxed sets) or buy the new characters (Alpha Bravo and Off Road).

Not spending money for an imported recolour. Luckily, Honey Bear just found Alpha Bravo yesterday. Now, I am just waiting on Air Raid.

Not all of them. Huffer definitely isn't designed to combine with Prime.

Nobody said that all of the Legends figures were designed to combine... Just many of the new molds designed for the Combiner Wars lineup, like Blackjack, Groove and Powerglide. Huffer on the other hand is obviously a retool of the 30th Anniversary Legends Optimus Prime, a figure that was designed before the Combiner Wars line.

Some fan customs other fans created.

CW Ultra Magnus

Silverbolt repaints
Energon jetfiere, tarn, star saber and king atlas
energon megatron, jiaxhus, scattershot and bw silverbolt

Would buy that CW Energon Megatron in a heart beat.
