Yeah, I'd have to agree. I'm reserving judgement, but I'm still looking forward to these combiners. I like what I've seen so far.
Same here. I actually have most of the ones released on order. Firefly, Skydive, Silverbolt, Optimus Prime, and Drag Strip should be arriving tomorrow and Thursday so I'll be able to give more detailed reviews once they come in. I also have Motormaster, Air Raid, and the other Stunticons on preorder from BBTS, so I'll be set when they come out.

You can count me in the "enjoyin' 'em" camp as well. I got Drag Strip and Alpha Bravo and was surprised at how much I liked them, especially AB. Everything I've seen of the other figures indicates that they're up to the same standard (in fact, the second wave actually looks a bit better. Dom, most of those guys have chest-covers!).

I caved and ordered Fireflyt and Skydive from BBTS, then stuck Silverbolt, Motormaster, Blackjack (+Huffer) and the rest of the Stunties on pre-order. May be jumping the gun a bit, and could just ensure that all those guys finally appear in stores around here a day later, and now I'm guaranteed to have to wait around until fuckin' February to combine my Aerialbots or anybody else, but at least I make sure I get 'em. I can keep looking around for, like, Bombshell, I guess.

I hunted around for about a week before I caved and just ordered them. Prime and Silverbolt are on their way as are the remaining currently available limbs, so I should be able to combine everything by Friday.

Of course, this means that I now have a Classics Prime that I need to sell since I'll have another version of G1 Prime in that scale.

Ew, no. Classics Prime is still awesome and easily one of the most badass-looking Prime toys ever. CW Prime looks like actual poop. If anything, just hold onto both of them, if you just want CW Prime for the combining and Classics Prime to be an actually-cool Optimus Prime toy.

I might keep both. It depends on how I feel about CW Prime in hand. But, he does have a lot to live up to, especially since my Classics Prime is the shiny one from the AoE two pack from last year. Seriously, that thing is just freakin gorgeous.

EDIT: At the very least I still have to sell my Breakdown custom. Not much point in having the Red Alert repaint when there's one coming out that actually combines.

So, the poll is apparently live, and I really don't want to download the TF app to vote. It has a look at Hot Spot and Groove as examples of what types of vehicles to make into the torso and weapon, and there's a total of 3 choices - jets, a truck and a car, and a (fire)truck and a motorcycle. This is so whoppingly lame, it suggests the fan choice combiner is basically going to be a larger-scale version of Power Core Combiners' later sets - repainting core bots and scrambling limbs.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I am so not feeling this.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

So here are the choices for anyone who won't download the App:

Faction: Autobot or Decepticon
Torso: Jet and Bomber (repaint of Silverbolt and Powerglide), Truck and Car (repaint of Optimus/Motormaster and Blackjack) and Fire Truck and Motorcycle (obviously repainted from a yet to be released Hot Spot and perhaps Groove).
First through fourth limb: Each has the same three choices. "Plane and Helicopter" come together and I assume that means if they win, two of the four limbs will be these (repaints of Skydive and Alpha Bravo), Truck (repaint of Offroad) or Car (Repaint of Breakdown).

All in all disappointing. I was hoping we could get some cool limb combinations and work out a neat theme from them. I also hate how they seem to have stacked the deck in favor of the plane and helicopter combo.

Yeah, I was hoping this poll would be more like the one for Windblade, which had a lot of freedom in choosing what the new character would be. Kinda cool to get a glimpse at Hot Spot and Groove but disappointing to see this is instead a 'choose the repaints' type poll rather than a true 'fan built' character. Guess that explains the timing of this poll though, in that the figures are already designed.

In somewhat related news... Couple weeks ago TFW2005 had an image of a banner for the UK Toy Fair. It looks like CW Optimus is getting repainted as Ultra Magnus, and Blackjack as Rodimus.

So the poll has entered the final phase of the voting... So far, the revealed winning results are that the new combiner is from the Sea of Rust and will be an Autobot. In the final round, voters can decide the gender, name (Quakebreak, Slammoth, Victorion), nemesis (Devastator, Galvatronus, Menasor) and personality (Independent, Loyal, Leader).
