MP-22 Ultra Magnus

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!
Generation 1, Generation 2 - Removable fists? Check. Unlicensed vehicle modes? Check. Kickass tape deck robot with transforming cassette minions? DOUBLE CHECK!!!

BBTS has posted better images from the magazine, including an image that I assume they added color to. Looks like you're right O6, he has two different heads.

So no cab inner-robot? That's disappointing, and sucks a lot of fun out of Magnus as a toy concept. Not to mention that while MPs generally add lots of features to the figures/characters they're re-doing, in this case they're *removing* a feature, and a pretty big, defining one as well.

Granted, it's not a huge deal to me, since I'm not in the audience for this at all anyway (I'm still waffling over getting MP Soundwave, and maybe Sunstorm when he comes stateside), just seems kinda disappointing, after all the hype the simple news of an MP Ultra Magnus conjures up. You'd think they'd at least want to one-up the dang Titanium figure.

Seems like they're damned if they do and damned if they don't, some folks want an Ultra Magnus that isn't just an armored Optimus.

Anyway, looks decent, the face thing is absolutely bizarre and I'm wondering if that's an exclusive head or what. The design seems like it's kinda armored and kinda not, interesting.

I'm 100% positive this still has the MP-10 Truck cab optimus that can still transform into a 9 inch robot mode,Its just repainted into Ultra magnus colors.

The truck cab-bot thighs & lower side legs can easily be seen in those pics with the toy in super robot armored up mode.

You'd think that'd be in some of the promo pictures then, wouldn't you? 'Cept it's not.

Yeah, and if you look close enough there are some noticeable differences with the Ultra Magnus cab compared to the MP-10 Optimus figure. The transformation lines particularly. Like with the front windows on Prime, you can see the line down the middle between the windows where they open up, or where his arms fold out from along the sides of the cab. The Ultra Magnus cab doesn't have those same transformation lines though. They did a great job in making them look so similar to one another, but they aren't the same figure.

Sorry,I was wrong on all accounts. After reading some comments here. I did some research over at the TFW2005 forum. While over at the TFW2005 forum,I saw discussions & then saw the super clear Robot Kingdom photos of MP-22.

Based off my research,I can safely conclude,The truck cab does not transform into a tiny robot mode. It appears the whole huge vehicle mode transforms into a big super robot mode. I gotta say,I love this version better,It's like a oversized Titanium 6 inch G-1 Ultra Magnus toy. The Takara designer that created this toy is a pure genius. This toy by all accounts is a 100% new mold. That does a great job of mocking the MP-10 Truck cab sculpt.

Yes I was one of the ones fearing the MP-10 mold being wrapped around car carrier trailer pop on/off parts. Thankfully we are not getting this version.

Aw, man, that blows, now I won't get a super-cool blue Prime cab when they repaint it as Powered Convoy.

No wonder it's taking so long for this thing to come out. If they had just repainted the MP-10, half the work would have been done already. All they would have had to design was the armor.

EDIT: Well now I am well and truly confused. The pics on BBTS don't appear to show anything that would allow for the cab to be a repaint of MP-10 (although, I don't have and MP-10, so I could be wrong), but the description specifically says that the MP-10 cab will be the center of the Ultra Magnus armor. I guess we're just going to have to wait for this to come out until we know for sure.
