Off the main topic, but now is a really good time to get a PS3, the price is way down and the newest model (it's the 3rd total redesign) is WAY more energy efficient which equals ongoing savings. Before the PS4 comes out means that triple-A multiplayer games will still be well populated too.

FWIW,Only the hard core on-line Fans know advanced toy info. Parents & toddler/kids don't know any advanced TF toys info. So if Hasbro were to release MP Grimlock at the leader size scale & 6+months to a year+later release MP Grimlock at the voyager sizer scale,parents/kids won't know in advance about it,thus the sales are not hurt nor do the different sized figures cannibalize each other.
Different sizes are meant to appeal to different demographics. They put Optimus Prime in Cyberverse and in Voyager because they know that the kids who want OP but can't afford $22 for a Voyager might be able to swing $10 for a Cyberverse Commander. They aren't aiming for the same market though, Hasbro doesn't expect that the same market that buys a Legion figure will also follow that character into larger pricepoints.
We're talking about MP, kids market buyers aren't a core market in this case, MP is for fans and fans generally follow the brand on the internet to some degree.
downsizing or upsizing a existing TF design is easier than creating a TF new design from scratch.
Not really, especially with safety-conscious Hasbro involved. I explained this earlier in the thread, but you generally have to redesign the figure to ensure parts don't break from scaling down, and why cut new tooling to repeat what you've just done?
In the case of MP Megatron,I thought that toy was too over sized to the extreme extent it couldn't fit in with other TF toys on display shelves. MP Megatron could benfit by being downsized to a 9 inch leader toys or 8 inch ultra toy to help the toy design better fit in with other TF toys lines.
Scaled down Megatron, the shoulders, ankles, hips, a lot of the transformation hinges, and a lot of the kibble joints would not pass any drop test at all, much less a stringent one like Hasbro's. I think a 3rd party did a scaled down MP Megs and had to redesign EVERYTHING and it still was delicate. Also, laws have changed and a realistic-sized gun toy would be a bigger problem than it used to be in both countries.
Instead of creating a new mold Voyager for Grimlock like the FOC toy did. Takara/Hasbro should have just Downsized the MP Grimlock leader sized toy to a Voyager sized toy,So the MP design would have fitted into the Classics/Generations TF toy scale. PERSONALLY I'D RATHER BUY A VOYAGER SIZED PEFECTION MP GRIMLOCK TOY INSEAD OF BUYING A INFERIOR CUT CORNERS GENERATIONS FOC GRIMLOCK TOY OR 2009 VOYAGER GRIMLOCK TOY.
But FOC is the flavor of the moment, the line is meant to bring video game fans into the brand as much as it is to reward TF fans who liked the game, why the fuck would any of them want MP Grimlock at Voyager scale to represent the FOC character? And your reply to Shocky's post is dishonest, you said clearly Lil MP "INSTEAD OF" FOC Voy, it's right there.

You resize Megatron and then you have to resize MP Hot Rod down to a size between Sideswipe and MP-10 Optimus.
And none of this is doing a good job explaining why Hasbro would want to fracture their existing collector market along those 2 lines, and where the revenues would be to cut all that new steel tooling and design out safe product that looks good at both scales.
