The Wiki certainly says nothing about it, and Rodimus got it directly preceding his appearance in AHM, which I read everything of up until he Ongoing, so unless they mention it there...

And, here is a preview of the annual.

The first few pages are heavily stylized in terms of writing and art. The rest looks to be standard RiD. Starscream makes uncomfortable points and Barber showcases Metalhawk a bit.

-really looking forward to this.

I love how the flashback sequence looks and reads like old school comics, both in printing style and overblown dialogue. That's always fun, and makes a genuine contrast with the present day sequences. Nice.

Robots in Disguise annual:
The good:
The styliized art and dialogue for the flash-back sequences is used through-out the story to differentiate the then and now scenes. More books, particularly in the capes and tights genre, should be doing this sort of thing for flash-backs. There is less direct conflict between Prowl and Starscream than the previews imply, with Metalhawk being the Point of View character.
Problems:
It is not clear what caused the explosion that nearly killed Blurr.
It feels like IDW is subtley setting up for a "return to the way things were" for the series. Apparently, TFs were made to fight.... (On the other hand, I trust Barber enough to make it worth sticking around to see what he does next with Starscream.)
Grade: A/B
Dom
-still reeling from the idea of picking up two new TF comics on one trip to the comic shop.

You're right, I somehow missed entirely that Blurr randomly is hit by an explosion. (Although it's possible that he was hit by the Metrotitan actually teleporting in.)
I'm a little disappointed that the Metrotitan apparently dies here; I was hoping we might get a little more out of him.
