Hey, there are plenty of "Armada" junior novels. They are shit, but they meet the standard you describe.

We've talked about you making jokes before!

Really though, I'd rather read a "shit" story about robots in disguise than a "good" one about robots in space. You know this. Reserving judgement on RIDW until it's actually out, of course.

Just out of curiosity, why? Why read something bad just because it meets an arbitrary spec?

On another note, we could probably save ourselves some work and stress in coming up with an abbreviation if we just :o typed out the name of the comic. "Robots in Disguise" does not exactly have much key depth, ya know? (My passwords tend to be worse.)

The spec isn't "arbitrary", it's my *personal taste*, you daft bugger.

But really, you are scraping the barrel for a response there. I'm obviously not going to read these Armada novels, even if they do portray robots in disguise, because I find the Armada universe uninteresting. Also, bit of a waste of money.

If I come across a good story about robots in disguise, great. That's what I'd aim for if I was proactive about it.

"Hi, I'm Dom. I buy comics I don't really like or aren't interested in because of arbitrary reasons like certain writers being on the book, or because I am looking for filler, despite being several months behind on legitimately good books like Cobra or TF, or simply not buying books like Atomic Robo."

I will never understand you, Dom, because you can be a hypocrite in the 'dumbest' ways sometimes. I can cite numerous examples of you buying entire runs of comics that you explicitly weren't enjoying or were only mildly interested in, simply because of (in the same vein) arbitrary things like, "Well, Bendis is writing this," or, "I need a filler book right now." (It's that last one that gets me. You seriously had no reason to buy all those issues of, what, fucking Moon Knight or whatever?)
Shockwave wrote:I could get behind the RiD/RID distinction.
I can't because I can't ever be fucked with CamelCase bullshit and remembering what's what. I'm just going to call it RID because, realistically, we aren't ever going to be talking about this and the 2001 RID series in the same breath--with the explicit exception of when we're debating the fact that they're called the same thing. (My lack of effort concerning CamelCase is probably half the reason I quit computer programming.)

I don't see why we're putting forth so much effort when (with the exception of, what, one Dreamwave short story?) there has NEVER been a single comic set in the RID universe, whereas there was an entire series with the same name put out by IDW--MTMTE was the name for their profile books. We don't bother to make the distinction there, just like we don't really make the distinction that often between Transformers Universe (the Marvel comic), Transformers Universe (the repaint toyline) and Transformers Universe (the Classics sequel line). Use contextual clues and figure it out, man! Sometimes we spent way too much time arguing about idiotic semantic bullshit on this forum, which is ridiculous considering how off-topic we tend to get. (Who here remembers the 8-month debate about splitting the forum up between toys, cartoons and comics that never happened?)

I mean, shit, I'm not even bothering to remember which book is which--I'm still mentally referring to them as "Rodimus book" and "Shitty Bumblebee Book."
