Everything about this toy screams out Mediocre, Could Have Been Way Better, and in the much crappier ROTF colours, he's a definite pass. Should've waited, Sparky.
Well, I liked the claw and the axe. Really, all the problems you mentioned could mostly be fixed with paint. I'm just saying, I rather like him. I'm not saying you have to, but I do. Not enough to plunk down for the ROTF version, mind...
Chromehorn Forest Type.
You mean Shrapnel!

Ah, that's a lie, the Insecticon repaint as Shrapnel that I always wanted was primarily black and had purple and yellow details.
I don't think such a thing exists. The regular flavor Insecticon is a pretty clear homage to Barrage though, which is awesome.

I like Ratchet too. Got the Premium version from the last movie, definitely the best release of the toy thus far. It definitely is pretty average (I recall Dom liking it a lot), and does suffer from inaccuracy and shoddy gutted gimmicks, but I cannot call him a bad toy, as he's better than many of his contemporaries by sheer merit of not sucking as hard. Heh. Not ''exciting', but an acceptable purchase.

Also, I heart Forest Chromehorn, he's snazzy. The Barrage homage of the original wins me over more, though. Insecticon is the only Terrorcon I really wanted to troopbuild, I have this epic mental image of a diorama full of them bursting out of the ground and marching slowly across a hillside, chainguns blazing.

Anyway, I got stuff:

ROTF Mixmaster

Mixmaster is a horrible fucking mess. I like vehicle mode, it's a nice chunky size and has good accurate cement pouring bits, but the transformation is horrible, vague, and no fun at all, the robot mode is a kibbly unsatisfying mess, and I swear there's a proper third mode in there somewhere but damned if I can find it. onslaught86 does not recommend this toy.

Wow, it's interesting to see how much you've reversed on him. I liked him out of the box. Enthusiasm's gone down a little bit, but I still dig him.

Yeah, funny considering I didn't 'own' him until now, and put off buying him because he looked kinda sucky. :P

Now that I do own him, he's a toy I mess with and cannot be bothered figuring out, it's counter-intuitive and the end results are not worth it. Mixmaster gets a rating of M for Meh. A million moving parts do not a good toy make.

Eh, I liked him. Part of that may be Constructicon Faction Factor, though--the more of these guys you have, the funner they get!

Given we now both have Demmy, Rampage, and Mixmaster, no, they do not get any more fun together. Maybe when I get Long Haul I can merge them together into..oh wait, no, no I can't. More non-combining Constructicons are, if anything, less fun.

They should all have been yellow, it'd be an amusing nod at the non-combining G1 Constructicons.

Hey, I'm working on that as fast as I can over here! I've just been really busy lately! :D Seriously though, how long have you fiddled? Cause I didn't think much of him on my first attempt either (although, my first attempt was to put him in G1 foot mode and... actually that went well and now that I think about it, that was why I liked him out of the box). Anyway, everything actually does lock or peg down so there is a definate robot mode there. So keep fiddling, you may warm up to him. I wasn't actually that successful or that impressed with his actual robot mode first time out, but then I hadn't pegged everything down properly either. Also, totally get Long Haul. He's a good toy.

Mind, I've had my Constructicons assaulting Prime for the last two weeks. Mixmaster is on his back and Prime's all GRARGH GET THE HELL OFF and Demmy's grabbing his other arm and Rampage is...just kinda standing there.

You could have him bulldozing Prime's feet. With his butt. I dunno.

Anyway, HAUL!! Box from a trade with Scourge came in today. Movie 1 Ironhide and Bonecrusher. I'm planning to somehow work Bonecrusher into the whole Devastator thing. Haven't had a chance to fiddle with Ironhide as I was on my way out to ship Scourge's stuff when the box arrived.

Hey, I got my Scourgebox today too! It contained...quite the boon to my Energon Decepticon ranks:

Shockblast
Barricade
Demolishor
Battle Ravage
Cruellock
Insecticon

Wee! Spent most of my time to far playing with Shockblast. His orbital death ray mode is surprisingly fun (big and whooshable), and his robot mode kicks all kinds of ass. Love the claw-working gimmick on his cannon-hand (the sound effects, not so much). Plus, he's one of the coolest characters from the show, so that's a plus (though I want a Six Shot now too). Less detailed thoughts on the others: Barricade has a kinda iffy vehicle mode, but his robot mode is heavily G1-slaught-ish, and pretty cool, though it needs a gun badly. Demolishor sucks hard in vehicle mode, but his robot mode is entertaining enough to make up for it. I actually like firing missiles when they come in large quantities. Battle Ravage is neat enough. Weapons could be more versatile and his arms could be more posable, but his kitty mode is cool. Cruellock is kinda unstable and his arms don't really work for beast mode, but he looks really cool in robot mode, and his weapons are awesome. Insecticon...is the the third one I have, counting Chromehorn Forest Type, and I don't regret it at all! This is one of the best toys to have multiples of.

And I also recieved a notice that said that my Superlink Grand Convoy/Kicker Anniversary set (Which came all the way from Canada!) is waiting for me down at the Post Office! So to there I shall go tomorrow!

Christ I love Energon.

I only have two Energon toys: Shockwave (I refuse to call him Shockbl... Shockb... Well you get my point). And Arcee. Arcee was a Christmas present and Shockwave is awesome in pretty much any universe.
