G2 Protectobots on sale...

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!

I'm sure this would qualify for a bank loan, right?

Seriously, I would have been all over these guys if they'd been mass released. Some of my best TF memories are G2 fruity-colored...

G2 was a great line.

I am not sure why Hasbor and Takara have never re-issued Defensor and the other plug-head merge groups. I think the knock-offs you are talking about are actually based on the toys, rather than actual master moulds though.

My general assumption about popular toys not being released is that the molds are lost or damaged. Though the recent announcement of "Encore" Frenzy and Rumble gives reason not to simply assume that. For about 4 years or so, it had been almost othodoxy to assume that the molds were lost or destroyed.

Even if the molds are lost, Takara could easily use existing toys as the basis for molds they could then restore. There is no mechanical reason not to do this. And, we know based on Bruticus that Takara is not super stict about fidelity to old molds.

But there's financial reasons. Hasbro has said several times before that it costs just as much to backwards-engineer a G1 toy mould as it would to create an all new toy.

I imagine the situation with Bruty is different, as Bruty's mould is still somewhat available and was used as recently as 2004 or so, before.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

Y'know, in terms of expensive toys, I don't know what it says about me that I'd rather drop a mere twelve-hundred to get this.

Wow, I feel ashamed for not knowing that existed. Is that the same deco as the regular-exclusive Fire Guts Grand Convoy? 'Cause I always did want that one. And Black Rodimus, just to combine 'em, like.

I'm not sure myself. I think it is, just...more exclusive. I don't particularly care, I mainly want the set for BURNING JUSTICE Kicker. Ready to set Misha's heart aflame!

I have issues.
