Post-ROTF Speculation

Post by BWprowl »

As mentioned in the Q&A thread, Hasbro's not likely to answer this one themselves, so let's amuse ourselves with inane speculation!

I think it's a safe bet that Movie product will continue into 2010 (an awesome year because if you pronounce it 'Twenty-Ten' it actually sounds like THE FUTURE!), but after that...what? By now I think everyone knows that the end is coming for Animated, and Hasbro's saying they're putting Universe on hiatus, and we supposedly aren't getting the third Movie until after 2012, so...what do you think is next? A completely new cartoon/line? Another filler line, like the first Classics? Full-on absence a la post-G2? Toys based on COMICS? What?

I'm sure they'll want product on the shelves, so my guess would be a new series with an accompanying toyline. Possibly something set in the movie continuity? The movie toys have sold like crazy, and I can see Hasbro wanting to continue that success.

But who really knows?

I predict the epic, gritty series that I'd imagined based on the movie's 'realistic' changes to the TF concept will come to pass. Animated being such a drastic change from the movie was a bad idea when Hasbro need brand cohesion and to take advantage of how recognisable the brand currently is. There's also an older audience here. GI Joe Resolute is likely a market test, I expect the same sort of fiction to support whatever bridges the gap before the third movie.

Of course, we still need to see what Hasbro plan to do long-term in general.. The movies can't go on forever.
