The Robot Heroes art is..weird and creepy in general, I think. Especially some of the movie characters smiling. Some things were just not meant to smile. Movie Megs is one of them.
On the plus side, they've fixed it for Ironhide. He at least has an expression.
I really hate the packaging's character art

You think that's bad? When I picked up Dom's Acid Storm fig yesterday, they had Prowl, Sunstreaker, Tankor, Ass Storm, and Galvatron all lined up, the character art on the side is a closer look at their faces and they were all the same creepy, ugly thing - it was bizarre. Galvatron and Tankor's actual faces don't look anything like that.onslaught86 wrote:Seeing Prowl and Sunstreaker together on the shelves really drove the horrible boxart home. I mean, hey, I absolutely love boxart as a medium, and am really glad they brought it back vs. photos of the toys ala Classics.
But why on Earth would Hasbro request they look like 'this'?
It's the same exact face on each one of the deluxes. That's not art, that's a factory assembly line.Onslaught Six wrote:I'm still going with "Hey, make them seem more roboty and statuey," and the dude kinda ran with it and nobody realized it sucked until it was too late.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

I'm not sure what was up with the 'blank stare' we got with the early Universe art. I actually enjoy the style of artwork, and I think the format is what limits it. Since every character is in the same pose from the same angle, there's no room for a dynamic pose, nor is there any context for the facial expression. That being said, some of the more recent art, like Ironhide or Dinobot's portraits, are actually pretty good.
