Transformers: Legacy

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

My guess is that they are trying to make the hobby more difficult to promote chained/conditioned buying from collectors.
It's like toys with DLC. That's certainly a model we could live without. And, how long is it going to take a 3P company to just mold and produce the swords themselves. Dear Hasbro: Main versions of main characters should never be exclusives ever! Period. Stop it!

Sigh... I'm gonna wind up with 3 Wheeljacks. The ER one I have now, the one from the 5 pack, because I'm a sucker and I just know I'm going to buy that thing and the "Cybertron mode" one.

Toy companies tried the subscription "live Service" (tm and copyright Commander Jim Stephanie Sterling) and failed. And now they're trying to find another way to monetize all the toys. It's almost like a cross over event in comics where you have to get all the titles to get the complete story.

This is exactly what it's like.

Last time I looked at a deluxe class figure, or whatever that size class is called now, it was almost $29. Anyone remember when Alternators were only $20 each? This hobby has sadly become far too expensive.

Yeah. Have I become too old for this hobby or something? I just ordered Big Convoy and he's $60. I remember when toys that size used to be $20, MAYBE $30? It's definitely made me a lot more discerning about which figures I pick up. It's also made me more willing to go 3rd party if I'm going to spend a bunch of money in either case, especially given Hasbro's escalating QC issues.

I guess if I haven't outgrown it by now I'm not going to, but I'm definitely very, very selective about which figures I buy. I have to really want it to pay that much. I think it's mainly been Studio Series 86 figures and those Wal-Mart G1 reissues that I've picked up over the last few years.

I've been very selective about the figures I've gotten as well, sticking pretty much to the Beast Wars characters. Back in 1996, I remember a Basic figure was like $5, Deluxe was $10, Mega was $15 and Ultra was $20. It is crazy to see how expensive they've become.

Sentinel Prime Artifact Pack has been revealed...

The pack includes a new Sentinel Prime figure (based on the initial IDW design) which was heavily retooled from Tarn. The figure comes with the "Conduit", a shield representative of the Halo of Primus, which can link the 13 Primes artifacts to it.

I wish the connections on the Conduit was better placed. Some of the pegs/holes goes right through the symbol or name of the Primes. I also think they could have come up with a better idea to bring the 13 artifacts together than just pegging them onto a big shield. Interestingly, the sword for Vector Prime shown is a new mold.

I like the overall look of this Sentinel Prime, although I wish his limbs looked a little more bulky.

Man, he's a retool of Tarn? And he's 70 BUCKS?! HARD pass. For that price I assumed at least Leader class.

Oh yeah, that's the other criticism I forgot I wanted to mention. The only extra accessory being the "Conduit" being little more than a plastic disk, and Sentinel being a Voyager class, I expected more for the price tag.
