Re: Comics are Awesome III
Today's comics: Aquaman is now "Emperor Aquaman" #15, Green Lantern Corps #14, and I picked up The Flash #28 for the fight between Guy Gardner and Jay Garrick.

I believe Green Lantern #600 is out. I need to make time to get to the comic shop and pick up my books. As we noted a while back, I'm not sure how they arrived at the legacy number they have, and it's amusing how DC will renumber series regularly yet still rely on a large number like this to boost sales on "anniversary" issues. I'd be happy if they'd keep the numbering and continue on with 601, 602, etc., but I don't think we'll see that. They did for a while with the Flash, from #750-800 before reverting to a new #1.

This is the issue where Kyle becomes the primary character of the book, right? I've been meaning to make a trip to the comic book store and this is an issue I'd like to pick up as well.
It is funny they'd use the legacy numbering for a sales boost when they, and Marvel, so often rely on relaunches for exactly the same thing, which is only a temporary boost in sales at best. I'd prefer that they stick to the legacy number as well.

I'd prefer they stick with legacy numbering, but I'd be happy if they just picked one thing to do. If you make a new number one, don't go back to legacy numbering when it's convenient. I get they're trying to boost sales (I don't know if it's actually successful), but it makes keeping track of what order to read things after the fact difficult as hell.
Last year I started a project to read all the X-Men books beginning with issue #1 from 1963, and the jumping back and forth between renumbering and legacy numbering is a pain in the ass.

Yes, I think Kyle gets to headline the book for a while, though Hal is still around.Sparky Prime wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2026 7:19 pm This is the issue where Kyle becomes the primary character of the book, right? Agreed, it's difficult to figure out the order sometimes. You have to start factoring in the date and the volume number, and it never should have become that complicated.Ursus mellifera wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2026 8:36 am I'd prefer they stick with legacy numbering, but I'd be happy if they just picked one thing to do. Re: Comics are Awesome III
They've collected all of Robert Venditti's Green Lantern run from the New 52 in two omnibuses, and they are also collecting the Rebirth-era Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps, which I was hoping they'd do. The first volume will include Lost Army and Edge of Oblivion, even though Venditti didn't write those, something I'm also glad to see. They really belong opposite the Renegade storyline in Green Lantern, but this placement will work.
