Todays comics: Flash Comics #1 facsimile, Green Lantern #19/586 and Green Lantern: Fractured Spectrum #1. There are all sorts of GL plot points as we start a new arc, but let me just say that I hope we can avoid crossovers for a while. Knight Terrors and Absolute Power ate up four or five issues of this series, though Jeremy Adams incorporated them into the storyline as well as anyone could have. But it does feel like we should have hit the point we're at in the storyline four or five months ago. Still, I'm enjoying the series and looking forward to a new GL Corps book, though Fernando Pasarin is not one of my favorite artists.

I have a question about the recent story... I've heard Kyle Rayner became a White Lantern again, but he is already back to a standard Green Lantern? I gather he became a White Lantern in response to whatever the villain was doing, somehow, but I haven't seen any explanation for him returning to Green. Did they give an explanation is it handled off panel?

It's off panel, no explanation given that I saw. I guess he can channel the white light when he needs to and the rest of the time he's still a Green Lantern, but that's me inferring.

That's disappointing. Kyle being able to transition between White and Green seemingly at will, or even as a temporary thing, is a pretty important development that should have gotten a lot more attention. Unless its something the writer is going to yet explore...

I agree. As much as I'm enjoying the current series, I have to admit there are a lot of things that just happen with no real explanation. Kyle's White Lantern change being one of them.

Today's comics: Aquaman #2, Green Lantern Corps #1 and Green Lantern #20.

Kyle's change back from the White Lantern is apparently explained the same as Sinestro's change from rage to will: he had enough willpower to control the outbreak from the other manifestation of the emotional spectrum. That works for me. Sinestro's back to being a Green Lantern, and I will reserve judgment on that until we see how the story goes. It's like making Megatron an Autobot, it's hard to see most of the other characters accepting the situation. The Green Lantern issue is split pretty evenly between Hal and Kyle, and I like the guest artist, but since when does the source wall no longer turn people into stone? I'm not a fan of Fernando Pasarin's art style, but it's tolerable.

As for Aquaman, this book got very dark, very quickly. Aquaman ends up on a planet or in a dimension where the parasitic creature ruling it lives off whatever liquid anyone can bring, including blood, and she bleeds prisoners slowly, keeping them alive. Aquaman's solution is to kill her, so he's gone for the violent route pretty fast. I prefer superheroes not to kill, but I guess as head of state Aquaman's perspective is a bit different.

I guess that makes as much sense as anything. Kinda feel like the White Lantern should be exempt from that though, given its power encompasses all of the emotional spectrum.

Again? Wasn't it just a few years ago he was back to a Green Lantern...? 2011-2013. Longer ago than I thought, but still, recent enough that it feels a little repetitive to do it again relatively this soon. As I recall, a group of GLs tried to kill him at the time. Doesn't seem like things should be different this time...

Today's comics: Today's comics: Aquaman #3, World's Finest #37, Green Lantern Corps #2 and Green Lantern #21. I like the current Green Lantern artist as much or more than Xermanico. I'd be happy to see him stick around for the long haul. I like the way GL has Hal and Kyle as the primary characters right now, while everyone else is in the Corps book. I dropped Fantastic Four from my monthly pull list. The series is fine, but I'm not really invested in it right now, so the $4 I was spending on it will buy GLC going forward.

Nice to see Hal pull rank over Director Bones in GL #22. He starts to threaten Hal and Carol over breaking and entering into a government facility, but Hal basically reminds him that he's a member of the GL Corps, has a much wider sphere of authority, and can arrest him and lock him up on Oa if he doesn't cooperate. He should play that card more often.
