So anyone wanna rustle me up a big ol' bowl of crow to eat?

Not having watched The Clone Wars and having laughed off the trailer to this thing, I thought I was set to ignore it (I hadn't even read this thread past the beginning of Page 2 until now). Then, by sheer chance, I found out that Greg Motherfucking Weisman was producing/writing it, thus obligating me to at least check it out. So I grabbed all the episodes at the time (11) to watch. And did so within 24 hours.

It is, indeed, Pretty Good. I'll concede that a lot of the dialogue that made me vomit in the trailer (particularly the "He did" line) was in fact out of context (and Hera's horrible "Try blasting them" line hasn't even been in the show!). It's actually a very brisk, highly watchable show, the pacing is spot-on.

Still not crazy about Ezra. He's just WAY too blatant of a 'main character', it's annoying. And as been said, he's basically just Aladdin (looks like Aladdin, sounds like Aladdin, acts like Aladdin, the actually call him a friggin' 'street rat' at one point!). He's grown on me a smidge, but it was more irritating at the beginning. Kanan and Hera are great though, and I have no idea why the trailer left out Zeb (I actually expected him to die in the pilot just because I hadn't seen him at all in the lead-up) since he's a great character too. He also gets major props from me for being a Steve Blum character who doesn't use Blum's normal voice (all the Stormtroopers do though, which makes me laugh).

It has been easy for me to get cynical about the show. "No, show, you don't get to just mention Tarkin and make me excited. That's not how it works." But then Tarkin actually SHOWS UP and it's awesome! Thus far, it does a remarkable job of LOOKING just like Star Wars, and that's good, but also makes me look sideways at it sometimes, like I feel that it's playing me, trying to get into my good graces simply by really effectively pretending to be Star Wars. Which I guess is the caveat when you go into an actually-good show not particularly WANTING to like it at first.

Am concerned about what'll happen to the show after Weisman leaves (kinda hoping he's actually only leaving for the second season as a way to circumvent The Curse and he'll be back once Season 3 starts), but I decently trust the other guy, the Avatar guy, to keep running it at least this well.

I've been injoying it a lot too. I do like what they've done with Tarkin and his storyline makes sense for him to be there. I was concerned for a bit that they'd be having too many main character cameos but so far that's been minimal and they've been focusing on just the cast of the show. It also seems that the show is taking place before there is any real cohesion in the rebellion. Like there really isn't even an official rebel alliance yet, just small groups on different worlds who are randomly opposing the Empire. That certainly leaves a lot of room for the series to develop. I'm also glad the Space Alladin thing didn't last too long either. Ezra may have the look but the similarities really end there.

The season finale was great, I really enjoyed it, very heavy and very big, but not too weighed down. Zeb didn't get to do anything, and Sabine was a bit generic in her ability to do everything she needed to do so deftly, but other than those 2, every character got to shine. Tarkin was great, his behavior and rolling-boil-of-anger just under the surface really made him menacing. The Inquisitor had a fun way of doing what he did, I don't want to spoil but I was satisfied so nicely with how he acted. And then the ending opened the whole Rebels world up and tied into the past beautifully.

I won't make you eat too much crow, Prowl, I'm just glad you enjoyed it.

Hera's "try blasting them" line is from one of the mini-episodes that came out on youtube before the series, and there are a few other elements where the line reads were too "modern" like that early on in the series which thankfully evaporated away quickly as the series progressed.

Aladdin ain't a bad character to emulate, he's a fairly rounded character and I think Ezra is too. There are times where Ezra actively surprises me with his choices, and there are times when he's being really dumb with Zeb where he's an eyeroll, but ultimately it's that rounded character development that makes me like Ezra.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?
