"Generations" Minicons
"Generations" Minicons
A few weeks back, I saw a picture on one of the larger forums (I forget which one) of a "Super-Combiner" mode for the current "Generations" Minicons. It used 3 packs of them. It fit together well enough that some people were speculating that it was Hasbro's plan to make the figure work fit together that well.
Unfortunately, I was kind of tired at the time, and forgot to copy/past the link. Has anybody else seen the picture I am talking about? (I have not seen any other Minicon sets. But, I do plan to buy two more and try it myself if I get the chance.)

I've seen this thread on TFW2005. Is that what you're looking for?

If I had my way,HasTak would have created Three deluxe or Three voyager sized figures that merged to form a huge super robot. It seems Hasbro's over obsession with the smalls ruins decent toy ideas. While I love this HasTak deluxe combiner,I would have loved a 8 inch Ultra or leader sized combiner leaps & bounds more.

That seems like a no-go there, there's Kreoforming involved, and you cannot really use Runway's arms to bear weight as hips for any significant amount of time, those ball joints are too small.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Thanks Sparky. That is the thread.
JT, what do you mean "Kreo-forming"? I am not seeing it.
Given how light the plastic is, I am not sure that weight would be a problem on Runway's shoulders or the super-combiner's hips.

Re: "Generations" Minicons
Okay,I just saw the thread with the pics for this. Wow,I gotta say this is the most awesome thing ever. I saved the pics to my computer. I think this guy who created this needs to serious post a extensively long youtube video showing how he did this all in great detail. As i'm eagerto try it but am a bit clueless in some areas how he managed to do it all. watching a youtube video will more than help me re-create this in all it's glory.
I think I like the 2 sets combined better than the 3 Sets combined. The 2 sets combined at least appear to have decent more poseablity than the 3 sets combined. Yeah I know with this much weight on the tiny toys, even 2 sets combined can barely hold there weight let alone get any poses out of the present articulation.
Jedi,Might be on to something. Usually they guys who create these fan made combiners. Do use various building blocks toys sets, rubber bands, tape, glue & so forth.

Thread update: A Member on the TFW2005 board bought three sets of this & tried his best to re-create this & wasn't able to. Here is a copied & pasted reply comment from this guy named,Rob3880 wrote: "If these were made to be combined beyond the three that come packaged together, that would be awesome.. But they most definitely are not, which will become very apparent the minute you try."

He doesn't actually say that he wasn't able to recreate it, just that it became apparent to him that they weren't designed to combine beyond the 3 figures packed together. Which is understandable. Hasbro undoubtedly didn't intend for that when they designed these figures. The person that started the thread did say it took "a little imagination and some meddling" to combine the 3 packs together in the first place.Tigermegatron wrote:Thread update: A Member on the TFW2005 board bought three sets of this & tried his best to re-create this & wasn't able to. Re: "Generations" Minicons
I tried it last night. (I got my tax return, and two extra Minicon sets seemed like a good enough idea.) The Target in South Boston had one set on the shelves and another in the back. I also saw Scoop (which I probably should have grabbed).
Quality control is the biggest obstacle. The jet's shoulders are one obvious problem (though one of my copies holds up fairly well). Another source of difficulty is getting the tank's gun to work as a shoulder connector. I am not sure if it is question of the turret's side pegs being too small of the jet's hands being too loose. But, it takes some doing to find a turret that fits the hands....and then do it again on the other side.
On top of this, mix in the fact that the damned helicopter pops apart even when being put in to a standard mode.....and now you have to deal with three of them.
So, yeah, it can be done. I even came up with a slight tweak to the legs on the two-team super-combiner mode. But, the frustration involved goes up proportionate to the number of Minicon teams you are trying to combine.

Re: "Generations" Minicons
I have no trouble believing that it's possible. After all, I was at one point able to combine the ROTF Constructicons into a better looking Devastator. One version even had Dirtboss turning into a cycloptic Shockwave-esque head.
