Re: Universe2.0/Generations Review Thread
Good to hear Megatron's good, that's the one I was looking forward to the most. I'll probably get Trailsmasher too, Pax is a toss-up, Bumblebee's a nope.
Now to hope these pop up in my area soon. Stupid transitional Targets...

I'm likely to get all of them for the comics. Darn hard to get comics here without making a deliberate effort.
Which kinda sucks, because I'm more inclined to the Goldbug repaint for the Bumblebee mold and am probably gonna stash Bee in the drawer and just keep the comic.

I definitely bought Trailbreakutter for his comic as much as the figure.annhell wrote:I'm likely to get all of them for the comics. Darn hard to get comics here without making a deliberate effort.

The comics are available as back issues and digitally already if you don't feel like buying a figure just for the comic.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Trailbraker & Hoist are on my buy list, due to them being decent molds in the proper size class. Also due to them not receiving repeative homages in the classics/generations toy line.JediTricks wrote:I definitely bought Trailbreakutter for his comic as much as the figure.annhell wrote:I'm likely to get all of them for the comics. I don't feel the need to buy Generations 30th Megatron nor 30th Orion Pax nor 30th Bumblebee, mostly due to these characters getting so many repative homages in the classics/generations toy line. I don't need nor do I want a room/boxes/shelves full of optimus toys or bumblebee toys or megatron toys.
Re: Universe2.0/Generations Review Thread
Generations Megatron. Ever since I read the comic with the stealth bomber alt mode I thought it would make a cool toy. I think the toy would look better if it were a bit bigger (perhaps voyager) but I'm bothered by it's size. The toy does a pretty good job of representing the look of the comic and even though it's smaller than other Megatrons, it has a bulky feel to it. I guess what I mean by that is that it's proportional. The sculpt is spot on to the comic (which as we all know is included and I might add, unaltered from it's original printing). Transformation is complex and interesting, but not so complex that one cannot intuitively figure it out. Bomber mode looks good from the top but is all kibble underneath. Although it's obvious that you're not supposed to look at it from underneath in this mode anyway. At the very least, it's no less offensive than any other jet TF with bot kibble under it. I do see what Prowl was saying about the logo on the chest and, while it would have been cool to make it form from parts on the chest, I don't see how they could have done that at this scale. Overall, I would recommend this if you like this particular form of Megatron, or if you don't have Megatron and need one for your collection, or just like TFs that are fun to fiddle with. Hasbro certainly did better here than with Bumblebee. Bee's faux chest/car hood is unforgiveable as it hinders operation in vehicle mode. Megatron may have a lot of kibble, but at least he's not scraping his chest on the ground.

Hasbro/Takara should have just taken the HFTD Voyager sized Mindwipe toy & re-tooled it a bit to make it into IDW Stealth bomber megatron. The re-tools could have been a IDW Stealth bomber megatron head sculpt, newer weapon like hasbro did with the FOC Wreckers & Dark grey color scheme with red highlights.
Re: Universe2.0/Generations Review Thread
Except that isn't a stealth bomber, it's the stealth fighter. Totally different aircraft, design, capabilities, etc... I honestly am pretty happy with what we have, just kinda wish it was bigger. That idea isn't totally out of left field though.
More than anything I really just wish Bumblebee didn't have that freakin' fake car hood scraping the ground when he rolls.

Or they could have done, y'know, what they did, and just given' us a brand-spankin'-new mold for IDW Megatron. I think I'm definitely happy with the latter option, not sure why you would want to encourage Hasbro to cheap out on this sort of thing (especially since, much as I like Mindwipe, he really doesn't look anything like this Megatron).Tigermegatron wrote:Hasbro/Takara should have just taken the HFTD Voyager sized Mindwipe toy & re-tooled it a bit to make it into IDW Stealth bomber megatron. nor does the IDW Megatron look anything like G-1 Megatron in neither mode.BWprowl wrote: Or they could have done, y'know, what they did, and just given' us a brand-spankin'-new mold for IDW Megatron. Hardly anyone these days is reading the IDW TF comics,So creating newer TF toys based off newer IDW TF Art designs is a waste. The kids nor teens are not reading the IDW TF comics. only about 15% of the TF fans worldwide are bothering to read the IDW TF comics.
If Hasbro claims the fans only buy 5% of NEWER TF toys while the younger kiddies buy more than 95% of the TF toys in stores---> Then I highly doubt a 4 or 5 year old would care/notice/give a hoot is the HFTD Mindwipe got remolded with a new megatron head & added weapon, got colored dark grey & then got called IDW Stealth Megatron on the box/instructions.

I...know? I wasn't buying it to look like G1 Megatron, I was buying it to look like IDW Megatron. It succeeds at that admirably.Tigermegatron wrote:nor does the IDW Megatron look anything like G-1 Megatron in neither mode.
Hasbro would seem to disagree with you, given that they not only created this completely-new-mold toy as an accurate representation of the comics look, but also sold it, at retail, specifically packaged with one of those comics you claim no one cares about, which portrayed Megatron using that design that the toy was based on. It's in the first wave of a whole-new SUBLINE of toys all specifically based on the comics.Hardly anyone these days is reading the IDW TF comics,So creating newer TF toys based off newer IDW TF Art designs is a waste. But then what would the point of even making the toy be? I guess I'm just kind of confused about the what and why you're asking for here. Did you just miss out on ROTF Mindwipe and were hoping Hasbro would have an excuse to reissue the mold? Why would you argue for a recolored mold to be released in place of a brand-new mold, especially if you (apparently?) don't care about the character or context it's representing in this case?If Hasbro claims the fans only buy 5% of NEWER TF toys while the younger kiddies buy more than 95% of the TF toys in stores---> Then I highly doubt a 4 or 5 year old would care/notice/give a hoot is the HFTD Mindwipe got remolded with a new megatron head & added weapon, got colored dark grey & then got called IDW Stealth Megatron on the box/instructions.
tl;dr Why would you have preferred Hasbro remold Mindwipe into a new Megatron toy instead of released a brand-new-mold Megatron toy, as they did?
