Also, I wouldn't really call Jason Jansen a 'celebrity'. He had a bit part in a short, remixed, syndicated season of a fading promotional cartoon show, then slipped into obscurity so effectively that no one could find him for almost twenty years.

Exactly. He did not even know how many people were actually looking for him.

He's a half-step above a kid who appeared in a commercial in the eighties, and still seems to be doing remarkably well for himself, in terms of having a life and job and family and all that.

And, that is the shame of it all really. He deserves more. He deserves more recognition and scrutiny.

Some Transformers fans wallow in the mud, so why not do it too?

Exactly. Why should we be tearing him down....unless we are tying to build him up! Before we can make him stronger, we have to strip him to his core. His most primal state of being.

I want to help this guy...uh Jansen. I want to put him on the map. Because I care. I care about him being a celebrity, and I want him to get his name in the papers. He lives in New York, so at least a few of us will be able to get there. We have members to the north and south of where he lives. And, we have more than a few members to the west while there is nothing but impassable ocean to the east.

We approach this Jansen guy and tell him that we are there to help. If he does not like it, well, he is going to be outnumbered.

Jason Jansen: "I walked outside my house to get the mail & I encountered a group of smelly middle aged guys,they were shouting & chanting "Transformers" & "Botcon"

911 Phone dispatcher: "Are they hostile?"

Jason Jansen: "I'm not sure,I noticed thru the corner of my eye a huge van,I think they had plans to throw me in the back of that van & bring me to a place called "Botcon"

911 Phone dispatcher: "Did you notice any weapons that these men might of had?"

Jason Jansen: "I didn't see any guns,But from a long distance I noticed a few sharp objects,they seemed to be made out of multi colored plastic & some of the objects had light up features,one object kept saying "I am Optimus Prime."

911 Phone Dispatcher: "Did anyone of these guys try to talk to you or attempt to kidnap you?"

Jason Jansen: "A few of the men kept calling me by another name called tommy Kennedy,I don't know why their calling me by another name,maybe they have me confused with someone else. Their was this big guy with rope & he kept joking we'll take him by force to botcon if he doesn't want to go politely."

Jason Jansen: "Please help,Please hurry,Get some cops over here fast,I tried going out a few times during the day,but they won't leave,one guy followed me to the store & kept harrassing me with questions I knew nothing about."

911 Phone dispatcher: "Okay,thanks for all the info you gave for this emergency situation,Their are two cops already dispatched to your area,they should get their in about a half an hour."

Jason Jansen: "Please hurry,I'm afraid to step outside my own house,They are currently surronding my house,Chanting/yelling "Transformers" & "Botcon",I don't know if they have intent to break any of my house windows of break into my house door."

911 Phone dispatcher: "Please keep calm Jason,Stay inside,Don't attempt to go outside anymore,Don't attempt to confront any of these mem."

Jason Jansen: "Okay,I'll stay inside,Please tell the cops to hurry."

911 Phone Dispatcher: " Jason,I just got word from the cops,their within a minuet/block distance from you house. please stay inside your house,let the cops do their job,after the men are arrested & taken away in a police car,then a police officer will knock on your door,give you updated info & ask a few questions."

Jason Jansen: "Thank you,Okay I see the cops outside my house right now,they are arresting all the guys & throwing them into a few police cars,Thanks for your help.

911 Phone dispatcher: "your welcome,glad we were able to handle this situation in a calm non-violent manner.One of the cops has just informed me he is going to ring your door bell & ask a few question."

Jason Jansen: "Okay thanks,I'm talking to the cop right now,I asked him for a "order of protection" in case the men try to come back. thanks for all the help you provided me."

911 Phone dispatcher: "your welcome,enjoy the rest of your day."

Aged badly? He looks exactly his age, mid-30s. Weird. He's not wrinkly around the eyes or mouth, doesn't seem to have deep nasal folds, no hanging jowls.

From the pic i see,He has severe sun damage on his face & the pic was taken in the Winter. He has severe wrinkles in the forehead,around his eyes & all over his face. his face skin is all rough & looks like it's 50 years old. the guy appears to be over weight & has a big head. he probably never works out in a gym,eats fat grease type foods. THE GUY LOOKS LIKE HE'S IN HIS LATE 40'S/EARLY 50'S.

This is the last comment I'm going to make on his appearance. He has 1 crease on his forehead. The picture isn't clear enough for you to even make your claim that he has wrinkles around his mouth and eyes, but it doesn't look anything of the sort. You also can't judge his weight OR his head size from that photo as the majority of his body isn't in the image. Also, you can't accurately judge his skin tone, he's a fair-skinned fellow and he's being blasted by a flash. Honestly, it seems to be you projecting negativity, possibly from self-loathing, I dunno, but it's uglying up the site.

Are you trying to be offensive here? Are you trolling? Would you walk up to the man and say this to his face? I would hope you or anyone would be more civil and polite in person, and I think it would be appropriate to exercise the same civility here. God forbid you ever put on any weight and get caught in some bad flash photography. Someone on the internet might start calling you old and sun damaged.

Rather than focusing on the man's appearance, I actually read the article and found his recollections interesting. Just another kid actor who worked for awhile and then moved on with his life. Good for him. Sounds like it was a fun experience for him.

All flash photography is bad. Always. If it's not from an external flashgun or external lights, it's always bad, the body flash is a compromise made for convenience, not quality.

Your points on the article are spot on, he's a kid actor who made a life for himself instead of getting wrecked by it.

Also, the older, leathery skinned fellow on the left is not Janson. The young pale faced guy on the RIGHT is Janson.

At first I thought as you did, that he was speaking of Terry O'Quinn, but when I reread TM's original comments he does make a comment that shows he's talking about the guy on the right.

Okay, it sounds like AU is going to be point-man on "Operation: Limelight".

So, what is the plan? I occassionally heckle wrestlers at local shows, and might send them distressing phone messages. But, that is about as far as I have gone with celebrity harrassment. (Well, I did once propose to Kim Kardashian over email. But, I have no way of knowing if she ever actually got, let alone read, that message.)

The idea here is that we want to make this guy famous. We want to get him back in the public eye.....even if he does not want it. The best way to do that is to stir up a scandal.
