TimeLines (BotCon) 2013 discussion

Ancillary, non-main-line stuff. Star Wars TF, Speed Stars, Titanium Series, Robot Heroes, that sort of thing. They're kinda neat, but we all know they're not really that important. Admit it, you know it's true.

Re: Updated BotCon 2013 Machine Wars Obsidian Black toy Imag

I thought about posting this, but you beat me to it. The figure certainly looks better in these colors. I'd better be saving my pennies, and hoping I can find a cheap copy on Ebay since I won't be going to Botcon. I'd love to have Obsidian and Strika.

I already posted this in the topic we have for Botcon 2013 in the 'Other TF Lines' forum... But the new show accurate colors for Obsidian is a vast improvement.

It definitely looks better.

I could have accepted the non-show colours if Stryka were not in show colours and if the green were not hideous (never mind completely non-sensical for a character named Obsidian).

And, yes, now I am tempted by two toys in this set.

Neat. Still not neat enough for me to spend the bazillion dollars it'd cost, but neat.

Plus, I grew up with the toy. To me, Obsidian's a tiny dude who would throw rocks at you from a distance.

The botcon scalpers have made me hate all botcon exclusives. I refuse to feed the scalpers.

Threads merged.

IMO, if Obsidian isn't a VTOL Osprey-type design, I'm not down. Also, kinda weird to see the long-armed Obsidian put on the shortest-armed mold I can think of from the last 3 years.

I think he was chosen more for his robot mode than altmode.

In either case, I would have actually liked to have seen him be a repaint/remould of the first movie line's Incinerator. That's an underrated mould that didn't get repainted and totally could.

And here I thought they chose him because he had spinny rotor hands.

I thought the same thing, should have gone with Incinerator from the '07 movie line, even if that mold is an acquired taste and its original paint did suck most mightily.

Not trying to derail this conversation, but Incinerator needs a remold with movable rotors as fingers, and Obsidian would have been the perfect place for that.

That was my point, with the robot mode thing--Powerdive (or Highbrow, whichever) had spinny rotor hands, which makes him good for Obs.

Um, can I be the one to ask why? Obsidian never had spinny rotor hands, the rotors were on his shoulders.
