Metroplex's earth Vehicle mode never made any sense.

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!

Metroplex's earth Vehicle mode never made any sense.

Post by Tigermegatron »

Metroplex's earth Vehicle mode never made any sense. It looks like it's suspose to be a rolling aircraft carrier vehicle mode. Problem is there are no earth streets nor battle fields bigger enough for the vehicle mode to roll down into on any short or long distance travel transportations runs. Yes,I'm aware 1986 Metroplex might have been one of those canceled Diaclone test shots that Hasbro chose to put into the Transformers 1986 TF Toy line. PERSONALLY METROPLEX'S VEHICLE MODE LOOKS LIKE IT BELONGS IN THE G.I JOE TOY LINE.

I think G-1 Metroplex's huge rolling aircraft carrier alt mode would serve a better use on planet Cybertron. since planet cybertron has bigger terrain for Metroplex's vehicle mode to roll down into & transport troops into the battlefield.

Honestly a huge aircraft carrier only should be riding on the oceans. as there is no traffic, nothing to get in it's ways. clear open seas void of streets,sidewalks,cars,people,buildings,etc....

Sorry their is just no way a huge rolling aircraft carrier could be able to roll down any city streets nor any other streets in america/other countries .it's just way too big.

MAIN PROBLEM I SEE,If Metroplex can't travel thru streets in america, their is no way he can transport any of his teamates into battle. which basically makes Metroplex's rolling aircraft carrier mode useless & void.

I suspose it might be possible for G-1 Metroplex's rolling aircraft carrier vehicle mode to roll freely around on desert terrain. Metroplex would probably need to get rid of his wheels & get tank treads due to the desert sand/rocky terrian. but the whole point of the desert is it's baren thus their is nothing to fight for nor defend their.

My whole point is,G-1 Metroplex's vehicle mode is basically useless. because he can't travel anywhere with it. in order for metroplex to arrive on the battle field,he either needs to use ground bridges like RID & TFP uses or ride inside another huge flying vehicle mode to arrive on the battlefield.

Yes,I know this is G-1 & not everything makes sense about the 1980's era of TF's. While i'll be buying the 2013 30 titan sized Metroplex. If I were to do a update new mold for this toy it would get a space ship or water based aircraft carrier alt mode. because at the very least the space ship mode would enable metroplex to fly thru the skies/space to get to his detinations. a water based aircraft carrier alt mode,he'd at least be able to use the oceans to travel & transport troops in battle. in the case of some anime, water based ships can travel the oceans & fly in the air/thru space, similar to the robotech water ships & what armada tidalwave can do by using the water & skies to travel into battle.

I'M SORRY GIVING G-1 METROPLEX A ROLLING AIRCRAFT CARRIER ALT MODE WHILE HE'S ON THE EARTH,basically makes metroplex disabled, limits his travels & it puts him into that over weight fat guy position. where the fat guy is too big to get out of his house, too fat to ride in a car,too fat to get out of bed.

I noticed other city/base bots have at least some media explanations on how they can travel back & forth into battle. Fortress maximus & Scorponok were built with the intention of flying thru space/skies as huge space ships. Trypticon can use his beast mode to walk under water. Trypticon can also use his rockets on his beast mode to fly thru the skies/space. Omega supreme can travel into a space ship/rocket in order to get to his destinations in space/earth. Hasbro/Takara never developed any media story showing Metroplex using any of his modes to fly thru the skies/space to get to his destinations. HONESTLY NONE OF METROPLEX'S MODES CAN BE USED IN THE MEDIA TO FLY THRU THE SKIES/SPACE. Metroplex's rolling aircraft carrier mode with wheels would look ridiculous & so un-realistic flying thru the skies/space. Metroplex's city mode to too stretched open not compact enough to fly thru the skies/space. Metroplex's huge robot mode would just look wrong flying thru the skies/space. autobots robot modes don't possess flight without having a jet/space ship vehicle mode. some decepticons can get away with having flying robot modes like megatron & soundwave because the media established decepticons can fly in robot modes & autobots can't.

I Recall the Takara Japanse 1987 exclusive "HEADMASTERS" casrtoon series handled metroplex's travel destination quite funny & at least showed the big guy traveling to his destinations. In the Japanese Headmasters cartoon series,Metroplex had to drive into bigger autobot base then use the space bridge technology inside of it to travel from the earth to cybertron & vice versa.

None of the "cityformers" were based on or meant to be realistic Earth modes and they certainly weren't intended to represent vehicles that would just drive down the street.

alas, you miss the whole point of the thread as usual. You probably didn't even read the whole thread or mis-read everything as usual.

The autobots on earth during the G-1 1980's time era had their base located in a city. in order for metroplex to get to his destinations in order to fight Trypticon,he has to travel from city to city. as the decepticons didn't just attack one place nor did they just attack baren waste lands like deserts or military bases. if it was hard for metroplex to travel while on the earth, then his rolling aircraft carrier vehicle mode was useless as he couldn't transport troops into battle.

All of the other city bots during the 1980's G-1 media were able to fly in the skies/space. Metroplex was the only one who couldn't fly in the skies/space while on earth in his earth modes.

You mean that whole epic wall of text, half of which was UNNECESSARILY CAPITALIZED (SERIOUSLY, QUIT SHOUTING AT US!!) I skimmed it. I saw something in there about Metroplex not being able to drive down a regular street, now did you or did you not post that? Cause that's what I was addressing.

Not to mention this whole thread makes no sense since most of season 3 made no sense. It honestly doesn't make sense for any of them to fly. The original cartoon was entertaining but it really shouldn't be analyzed beyond that. If you start analyzing it like this the whole damn thing just falls apart.

1- It wasn't a whole epic wall of text,It was broken up into several paragraphs.

2- Skimming a thread or reply, then replying to it,is why you frustatre so many members here by mis-reading,then in-accurately replying to all their threads or replies. Your clearly are not good at skimming,so spend the extra 10 seconds & read the whole thread or reply, then give a accurate reply response.

God, Tigs, stop being a douche about people missing your point, I thought we'd dealt with this.

Anyway, Metroplex CAN fly in the cartoon, but since it only happens in Japanese episodes you'll probably say it doesn't count. And are you ignoring the fact that his vehicle mode is clearly shown as being able to traverse even residential areas of the USA, like in The Ultimate Weapon...?

Also, what's wrong with having a 'disabled' or 'fat guy' (DOUCHE!) Transformer that has trouble getting around? That's.. y'know.. *a new idea*

Metroplex could also fly on the "back of the box", as shown in one of the 1986 battle scenes. (What? What? He could!)

Metroplex is described in his original profile as being "the last line of defense". Ideally, he probably should not be getting up and moving around too much. It is not a question of him being a cripple, (which would make for a pretty useless soldier), it is a question of there not being much need for him to move.

In the "Ultimate Weapon", Metroplex fights purely defensively against Trypticon. Metroplex is actually stationed outside of heavily populated areas. (And, he was then killed in "Return of Optimus Prime, so as to avoid him getting the plague and going nutty.) In the UK comics, Metroplex is not even "awake" until after Rodimus and the others make the decision to activate him and fend off of the Quintessons in "Space Pirates". (And, a year or so later, Metroplex would have presumably been killed along with just about everybody else when the universe collapsed and got re-written.)

If Metroplex is rolling/walking around, the situation is likely dire enough that the Autobots need an enormous tank/carrier.

See? TOYS ARE CANON

Hey hold up, Rodimus didn't *kill* Metroplex in RoOP. Never mind the fact that he appears alive and well throughout Headmasters, but... Seriously, that's how you interpreted that scene? Damn. He just turns the guy off for a bit, he doesn't extinguish his laser core or whatever! Rewatch it! >_>

Metroplex as a constantly-moving offensive weapon is a boring idea.

Metroplex as "a constantly moving offensive weapon" is not so much a boring idea. It is an idea that implies the status-quo for TF is comparably to something resembling 40K.... That is less boring than....exceptionally violent.

(I have a rough outline that I am not going to bother submitting to Fun Publications involving a scenario that would require Metroplex to move around....it would end badly for everybody.)

Remember, Japan and the US do not always match up. I always saw that scene in "Return of Optimus Prime" as Rodimus killing Metroplex. It is presented as being a dire situation, and Rodimus' framing of the decision came across as more than "flipping a switch". And, Metroplex never shows up again in the US cartoon. (Of course, given that guys like Windcharger and Brawn who were established to have died showed up fine later, it is really anybody's guess.)

Alright, I've read the whole thing now and I stand by my original reply. Metroplex doesn't have an earth mode, none of the citybots do. They're Cybertronian cities and besides, Metroplex was shown to be quite mobile several times throughout season 3 anyway.
