HTS Ultimate Gift Set

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

HTS Ultimate Gift Set

Post by Dominic »

The HTS Ultimate giftset was originally billed as a Wal*Mart exclusive. But, at the last minute, it was re-billed as exclusive to HTS. Lewis speculates that this was to help preserve the exclusivity of the "Asia Exclusive" Thundercracker for TrU. (Wal*Mart and TrU likely regard each other as more direct competition than they would regard Hasbro Toy Shop.) This set consists of G2-ish recolours of RTS Optimus Prime and RTS Jazz and Legends Motorbreath and Thundercracker. With shipping, plan on paying ~$40. This is not a bad price for 2 deluxes and 2 Legends. But, it only holds up if you want most, or all ofthe figures in the set.

Jazz (robot/car): The point work is a clear, but not slavish, reference to the G2 figure. This Jazz shares all of the previous release's substantive good and bad points. And, similar to the RTS release, the back window is not painted. It is worth getting if you do not have the RTS figure (or any of the other pressings of this mould from BotCon) or simply like Jazz. (This is the only figure from this set that I actually want. If the paint work were better, specifically on the rear windows, I would be more willing to spend ~$40 for one deluxe.)

Optimus Prime (robot/truck): This is billed as being a call-back to "Combat Hero" Prime. But, the colouring more closely resembles the "PowerLinx" recolour of Armada Prime. This figure has a better base-mould than Jazz. But, I have no desire to own multiple pressings from that mould.

Motorbreath and Thundercracker are unchanged from their single card releases.

-really does not want that Prime, and already has the two Legends figures.

No it doesn't! Well, okay, maybe it does, but it's not the reference figure. People are saying it's just supposed to be Combat Hero Prime, but the real kicker is that it's the unreleased repaint deco:

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.
