Saw this over on TFW. Gotta say, I like all of the designs. Some more than others. My obvious fave is Shockwave, looks very true to the game design. I am really surprised at how much I like Magnus. Yeah, it's another white Optimus, but just giving him a different head really makes him look that different for some reason. My other faves are Fireflight and Sideswipe. And I finally see what everyone was bitching about on Jazz. Those fake wheels in his feet is bullshit.

Ultra Magnus I'd say suits that mold much better than Optimus does. Definitely an improvement.
Fireflight surprisingly fits Shockwave's body in robot mode. I think that looks great. But I'm not a fan of the vehicle mode. I think he should look sleeker than Shockwave's flying cannon form provides.
Insecticon, I think needs to dial back on the blue a bit but otherwise looks like a decent figure.
The rest I'd have to say look like pretty cool figures.

Dang, Magnus does look pretty nice. Don't know what you're talking about Shock, he's not a 'White Optimus' at all, he's definitely designed with all the blues and reds of his armored version in mind. Love the extra bits on his shoulders that recreate his shoulder-pylons, and that sword looks swag as hell. I think I need to get this one, might pass on the Optimus version entirely, seeing as I already the excellent WfC Optimus.
Kickback looks cool, and getting a new Insecticon is nice, but I'm hoping that once he's in-hand, his altmode'll be more...coherent?
Starscream's looking dang good, love the Movie-style chainguns. He's high on my list, and not just because they're using that model for him in RID.
I'm really impressed by Sideswipe just on how thorough a remolding job he is of Jazz. That's some K-9-level stuff right there, and that's cool.
When are these out? Late Summer or something?

I hadn't even noticed the new head on UM, didn't even click his pic before. It's a good head but it tapers down too narrow and that chin is Animated-sized.Shockwave wrote:http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-new ... es-174967/

I don't really get Fireflight, but there's something about what they put out that catches my attention so I'll wait and see, but aiming towards getting him. His sword looks very cool.
Sideswipe looks really nice in vehicle mode, that giganto gun doesn't help either mode whatsoever; bot mode looks... what's a nice way of saying "not very good"? Oh, NOT VERY GOOD. The head looks like a parody with its rounded tiny face and giant helmet. The shortcomings of the Jazz mold come through loud and clear with the phony wheel-feet and poorly-hidden torso wheels and oversized torso - if you're going to change so much of a mold, why bother keeping the shoddiest elements? Also, that body doesn't look a damned thing like the character in the first game, and is the wrong layout for any Sideswipe.
Starscream looks great in bot mode, and I love how his gun comes together even if it does have big Lego Technic gears
Kickback I don't think I like, it just looks like a tangled mess of ideas that didn't coalesce into anything specific, although I might be digging that beast mode head. I suspect the final production colors are going to be poor, just plain gray and purple plastics, but I'd like to be surprised.
Why is Hasbro trying to shove big weapons down this line's throat? Another kiddie-grab? Just let the figures speak for themselves instead of compromising budgets.
Yeah, the boxier body and the 6 big wheels say UM, not OP to me as well.Sparky Prime wrote:Ultra Magnus I'd say suits that mold much better than Optimus does. Definitely an improvement.
I think they're talking next spring.BWprowl wrote:When are these out? Late Summer or something?

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Re: New FOC toys
I dunno, don't the characters have bigass weapons in the actual game? I'm not sure, I haven't even played WfC (and I own it! I'm afraid it's going to look awful and squinty and unplayable on my crappy current TV, I'm waiting til I upgrade to an HD set). Besides, at least these aren't loaded with spring gimmicks that people hate so much, they just combine or transform, that seems serviceable enough.JediTricks wrote:Why is Hasbro trying to shove big weapons down this line's throat? Re: New FOC toys
Yeah, I probably should have just said repaint Optimus but you're right, the robot mode is definitely painted more like the armored mode. I think that between that, the new head and the fact that you could put this with WFC Prime and have two totally different molds is what really has me with this one. If I can afford it when it comes out, I'm sold.BWprowl wrote:Dang, Magnus does look pretty nice. I also noticed the different chest design on Fireflight. I like the fact that it's not just a straight repaint of Shockwave. Overall, I have to say that I haven't been this excited about a new TF line since Classics was announced.

Re: New FOC toys
I haven't played FOC yet, but in WFC they didn't have big weapons most of the time, they had reasonably-sized weapons and occasionally would yank big-honkin'-weapons out of their turrets. I haven't seen pictures of giganto-weapons in the game footage for FOC. Starscream has that weapon the toy has, but the scale is off and the barrels are outsized even for that.BWprowl wrote:I dunno, don't the characters have bigass weapons in the actual game? WFC is a very detail-oriented game, but I think it should be playable on a small tv. It's a fantastic play on the PS3, great Transformers experience, it's worth checking out before FOC comes out. Also, because you can cycle out characters in most levels on WFC, it has replay value so you could go back when you get a bigger TV and get more out of it without it feeling like a repeat.

I played through damn near of the entirety of WFC on a 13" CRT. You'll be fine.
