Hasbro destroys third party companies by being way better

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

I'm hoping it's kind of mistransformed. The legs look okay but those arms need sucked in.
Saw this last night. I'm almost certain it's mistransformed to some degree, you can at least tell that there's *something* wrong going on with the arms. People were 'shopping things into position in the thread last night to try and get an idea of what it'll look like in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing, and I'm confident I'll like the finished product once I have it.

Hasbro, you really need to hire people who can transform, pose, and take decent pictures of your toys.

Blast-Off looks sweet though.

Technically, it's not any incarnation of G1, just a wholly new universe that happens to look a lot like G1, but is actually set in a variation of the Prime universe.

I don't mind Red Vortex. I think it might be some kind of screwup with tints, actually, and he was intended to be purple. Or they might have a problem of Too Much Purple with the Decepticons. (Yes! This again!)

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

Yeah, the arms look a bit weird. I think I'll have to see it in person in order to really have an opinion, or at least see some better photos of it. I think I've been waiting for a combiner on this scale for so long that my standards are pretty high by now.

Heh, you'd think that'd have the opposite effect. But I get what you're saying. Really, it's just those shoulder connection points that look dicey, everything else looks like it'll be great. And hey, all the parts are integrated!

Whattaya think the odds of this thing getting repainted later on are? Dude, Urban Ruination! G2 Bruticus! It makes me far too excited.

G2 Bruticus is exactly the kind of thing the club would jump on and then I'd hate them because I'd have to buy it. (Alternatively, Japan might do it.)

On the other hand, the club could pump these guys out as Ruination (or Valdigus, either one) and we'd finally have an excuse for our RID-themed set.

Just as long as it's not the human-nervous-system-colored Ruination from Universe.

Dude, Tiger Valdigus Force is terrifying and awesome.

Good call of Hasbro to pick the gestalt with the most potential repaints to do first, I guess.

I kinda want to dig out my Urban Ruination now.

EDIT: So how long until someone figures out how to combine the limb-guys from this with Universe Onslaught?

Much as I like the fact Hasbro is doing gestalts properly again, Prowl's comment about Bruticus being the most overdone G1 combiner just reminds me how much I'd rather see a realistic take on the Aerialbots (with different transformations for each!), or a truly gruesome set of Terrorcons. Ah well. Start with a low risk, I guess.

I'll tell you, I'm first in line for combining them with Universe Onslaught. I loved that mould, thought it totally captured Onslaught as a design and a character--as long as you gave him a proper G1 Onslaught gun, because he needed a damn rifle. FoC Onslaught looks...not that great.

Bruticus is just good as a go-to Combiner for Hasbro, especially in this situation. They need something that looks good packed individually on the shelves together, so the line still appears to have variety. With, say, the Constructicons, you end up with a sea of samey green construction vehicles, and the Arialbots are even worse in that regard. It makes the line look needlessly monotonous, and I can see why Hasbro wouldn’t want to go with them. That said, the Stunticons and Protectobots could work pretty well, I wouldn’t mind seeing them later down the line. Or maybe *gasp* a new Combiner team, with a new design! Wouldn’t that be something?

If Hasbro brings out new Pretender Monsters I will buy two sets just to validate the idea.
