I can kinda see where Dom is coming from, I wouldn’t want to be giving Image any of my money, on any level, either. You know what’s been fun? Watching him trying to defend FunPub’s poor choices on this year’s BotCon set, since he technically works for them now. Keep squirming, Davie!

Anyway, the Universe Tankorr and Obsidian I ordered off eBay arrived the other day. Be careful when you’re in a Skype conversation with the Onslaughts, those guys’ll get you to do some silly stuff in the heat of the moment! Basically, ’86 and I got to talking about how awesome the Mega Tankorr mold is, and I realized that I didn’t have the Universe version, and talking about it made me want it, and there was a set of him and his box-mate on eBay for six bucks, so I went for it. Cool toy, the green and yellow go together well, and I actually like the ‘Energon surge’ effect around the eye. Plus this mold just kicks so much ass. I love the movable roving eyes in both modes, the way the cannon flips around to be usable in robot and vehicle modes, the big claw arms with the spinny saws built into them, everything. Now I want to dig out my old BM version. Obsidian’s okay as a pack-in, I was never crazy about this mold. At least he looks pretty.

I can kinda see where Dom is coming from,
It is not just a question of giving Willis money. I could have the utmost respect and affection for him, and would still balk at even letting the pressed pile of poop that is the Fan Club newsletter in to my mail box. I can think of *maybe* 5 examples of content that they have released (including text stories and convention comics) that have been passable. And, even those had elementary genre flaws that really should been avoided.

I am happy, nay proud, to say that I skip at least some of their comics, even as I read their crappy convention comics.

Funny aside: I know of somebody who hates the Fan Club and Brian Savage so much that he not only refuses to join the club, he will not buy anything from the club store at non-member prices, despite being a completist. In all seriousness, this guy will happily go on to eBay and spend even more money to buy (already expensive) club and convention toys from scalpers. (I swear that I am not making this up.)
