January hauls

Post by Dominic »

Aweeee yeah!

Starting a haul thread....in January!

-a library card. Uh, yeah.
-MLP Twilight Sparkle. I dunno. I like the character. and it was my last hunt of 2011. (More on this later.)
-RTS Optimus Prime: The toy drive at the wrestling promotion kind of stalled (due to outside difficulties the promotor was having. I went in there on Christmas Eve, and the Prime I intended to donate was still there, so.... (I donated to a couple of drives this past Christmas, so I do not feel too bad. And, it was not like I could drop it anywhere on Christmas Eve, which I did check for on the way home.)
-extra PCC Waterlog for customizing
-customizing yielded a "Legends" scale Megaplex. (I added some blue and metallic paint to a "Legends" Megatron.
-customizing also yielded a Japanese style X-Key. (I buffed off the code from an extra Soundwave key.)

Dom
-was lazy about customizing, in case you did not notice.

Went looking for some Doctor Who today, and Barnes and Noble was having their "buy two get one free" sale, so I ended up with three. The Ark (first Doctor), Meglos (fourth Doctor) and Frontios (fifth Doctor). Combined with the Christmas Who haul (The Gunfighters, Seeds of Doom, The Horns of Nimon and series six of the new show), I've got a ton of Doctor Who to watch.... whenever I can find the time.

Extra! Extra! You heard it here first! Dom steals toys from needy children on Christmas! He's moved up from just snatching them from kids' hands! :P

I bought a little SD ShinkenGreen trading figure, because I like Chiaki a lot, and Target didn't have his PRS action figure.

I received from my online Protomen fandom secret santa...an extra copy of Castlevania Lords of Shadow! So I'm giving it away, fuck it.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

Ah.....

The promoter's life got *very* complicated around Halloween, and got consistently worse until just before Christmas. The toy drive itself may have been cancelled outright. I just left the toys at the gym, figuring that they would be taken care of. But....

I don't think I've hauled in anything since xmas. My grandpa did turn 99 on Thursday though. Oh, and I got a $40 per month discount in my auto insurance I think for being in the 5th year of driving, that was a'ight. Oh, and later today I'll be hauling in an expensive Sideshow Collectibles 12-inch Battle Droids exclusive 2-pack, UPS needs to hurry the F up.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

I found a clearance-priced Kre-O Prowl, so I picked that up. It was pretty okay, except, man, that thing has got some gorilla-ass giant arms on it. Wouldn't be a bad look for a Transformer, really, but it's a weird stylistic choice for Prowl. Might monkey around with that and see if I can work out an alternate way of building the arms. Of course, if I do, then he's still stuck with gigantic fists, so I dunno.

Congrats to your grandpappy, JT! And on five years of driving. Man, I think I remember reading your blog entries on starting up driving back in the day. Has time really started moving that friggin' fast? Cripes.

THAT's awesome. I hope he's doing well. I've got one grandparent left, and she turned 93 this past December. Here's hoping she makes it to 99! :)

Spent a mere £2.50 of my Christmas money on Godzilla: Save the Earth. May as well cancel the writing contract I'm working on right now.

Seriously, why are there not more new Godzilla games. Especially from Japan (Save the Earth is American, bizarrely). What the hell, Japan.
COME TO TFVIEWS oh you already did

You'd think Godzilla would be a bigger video game draw, too. It seems obvious: Be a giant radioactive lizard, stop aliens from attacking with their smog monsters and Ghirorahs, and occasionally play basketball against Charles Barkley. And yet, yeah, not that many Godzilla games.

Or hell, maybe there are, I'm pretty behind on video game stuff.
