Re: Universe2.0/Generations Review Thread
Ahh! That part. Yeah, I missed that initially too. (In fact, I might still miss it sometimes.)

I actually miss owning that mold at all. Seriously, why is it every time I do a purge that's one of the first things to go?

Because it's fantastic and people that missed out on it, or had one and sold it, want it back badly. When you started this purge, what was the first thing I asked about? Damn good mold, damn good.Shockwave wrote:I actually miss owning that mold at all. Seriously, why is it every time I do a purge that's one of the first things to go?
Yup, that's what I mean. Though, I kind of think it looks more like the bit on a shotgun that you pull on to eject a spent shell and load a new one. Which means that I can totally see O6's (I think it was O6) thing about this being a shotgun now.BWprowl wrote:Nah, I think he means the bits that come out of the bottom of the front of the gun, and end up looking like a clip of bullets or whatever.Onslaught Six wrote:Yeah, the rifle stock part. Can he even hold the rifle with those parts down?

And a double barrelled shotgun at that.138 Scourge wrote:Because it's fantastic and people that missed out on it, or had one and sold it, want it back badly. Re: Universe2.0/Generations Review Thread
It probably was me. Shotguns and chainguns are my favourite guns, so any time I can wedge them in...

Sky Shadow (aka Black Shadow): (robot/jet)
This is the more or less obligatory recolour of "Generations" Thunderwing. Besides the colours, the most obvious difference is the remoulded head and chest, which are only apparent in robot mode.
As has been pointed out by a number of people regarding both uses of this mould, it should have been bigger. Some of this is the association that older fans have with the origional Thunderwing (and by extension Shadow) being about the same size as a moder Ultra class figure. Some of it is because Thunderwing's few (but generally substantive) appearances portray him as a leader and as having the expected stature. And, some of it is because the toy evokes a scale that it simply does not represent very well.
It is not a bad design. The transform is both creative and easy to remember. The robot mode is well proportioned. The vehicle has a bit much in the way of undercarriage, but is no worse in this regard than most other TF jets. The weapons look good in both modes. But, as has been pointed out, there is something missing.
I was pretty harsh when reviewing Thunderwing. (I only got one, and intended to use it for a custom project.) But, it has grown on me over the last few months, (enough that Thunderwing is out of the custom pile). Over all, Sky Shadow is probably a better toy. The black, silver and red of this toy are better than the green, purple and tan(ish) of Thunderwing. If you do not have any pressing of this mould, Sky Shadow is the one to grab unless you have a special affinity for Thunderwing, (which I happen to).
As with Thunderwing, the pegs on the gun and the under wing sockets they connect to are a bit larger than most TF weapons. This makes it difficult and risky to connect them to figures with more standard peg holes, which limits custom options. My origional plan was to harvest the guns from Sky Shadow. But, if anything, the problem is worse with Sky Shadow.
This is just as well, as my new plan is to use Sky Shadow to make a custom Macabre, or maybe Tornado.
Grade: B/C

That head would certainly be appropriate for Macabre.
Hey, if someone was gonna custom Scrounge, what would be a good base figure? Cosmos?

Wow, I'd never thought of that, but gotta say, that might work okay.Shockwave wrote:

And Cosmos would make Scrounge proportional to the current Straxus figure too.138 Scourge wrote:Wow, I'd never thought of that, but gotta say, that might work okay.Shockwave wrote:

Re: Universe2.0/Generations Review Thread
Somebody on Deviant Art (maybe TFW) did a digital custom of Scrounge using a Cosmos as the base, and it looks very nice.
