RTS Starscream

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

RTS Starscream

Post by Dominic »

I am not sure where the main thread for this is.

Starscream: robot/F15
As has been noted elsewhere, Legends RTS Starscream is an odd toy. There are elements to the engineering that are rarely, if ever, used in jet formers. Despite the unorthodox design, there is much about this toy that works well enough to make one wonder why it was not used as early as 1948. (It still manages to be a better representation of the character model than the 1984 figure.) Given how many possiblities for recolours there are for this mould, (even if we assume that Takara's Skywarp and Thundercracker rule out a US release of both), it is a safe bet that this mould will be released again in the next few years.

If you are a fan of "Legends" figures, Starscream is definitely worth tracking down. And, even if you are not a fan of the price point, this figure is worth picking up if you happen to see it.

Grade: A
An unorthodox, but competently executed, design.

I agree, this is one of my favorite of the RTS legends figures and I have to beleive that we'll get the main 3 at some point. Hasbro won't be able to resist it even if that means getting the repaints over numerous years. It would be almost impossible to issue a new mold of this character without improving the design of the original toy. That was a toy jet first and a robot second. Any toy made with today's technology almost certain to be a better blending of both.

There is a bit more undercarriage than I would expect from a purpose built jet. But, yeah, it is a good mould. (I will still take yours if you cannot find another taker for it. Plenty of customizing potential, even if we assume official recolours later.)

Mine just went out to Prowl this weekend. It'll be interesting to see if he enjoys it as much as we do.
