How many members here got a TF toy in 1984 at a store.

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!
Generation 1, Generation 2 - Removable fists? Check. Unlicensed vehicle modes? Check. Kickass tape deck robot with transforming cassette minions? DOUBLE CHECK!!!

I didn't buy any in '84, but I did get 4 mini Autobots for Christmas that year. Windcharger, Huffer, Gears and Brawn. They were the only 4 I was aware of at the time and I decided that Windcharger was the leader until a friend of mine mentioned Optimus Prime. At which point I asked "What's an Optimus Prime?".

Windcharger is the most appropriate leader for that little group, I feel. Not just 'cos he's red. [/childbrain]

I got Skywarp and probably Optimus and a couple others at Sears in 84.

Yeah, I distinctly remember our local Sears having a big Transformers shelf in their toy section. Had to have been 85 or so since I remember seeing Blaster on the shelf among the other figures.
